Capítulo 35: Chapter 35: The Heart Of Deception

Location: Damon's empire

Adrian sat nursing his wounds, replaying the duel in his mind. Damon approached, his expression unreadable.

"You fought well," Damon said, breaking the silence.

Adrian's face twisted in frustration. "I should have won. Anthony was weaker than I expected, but he fought with a desperation that I didn't anticipate."

Damon's eyes narrowed. "Desperation can make a man dangerous. We need to exploit that. Use his emotional turmoil against him."

Adrian looked up, his eyes filled with determination. "What do you suggest?"

Damon leaned in, we try to get him on our side, he is driven by emotions and I think we can exploit that." Make him think you want to be friends with him and you want to settle all difference with him since you both are brothers.

Adrian nodded slowly. "I can do that. But what about Marcus? His return complicates things."

Damon's smile was cold. "Marcus is a wildcard. We need to find out how he regained his sight and what his plans are. Keep an eye on him, but for now, focus on getting Anthony on our side"

Adrian's eyes gleamed with a renewed sense of purpose. "I won't rest until Anthony is broken. This isn't over."

Damon's smile widened. "Good. We'll make sure he regrets ever crossing us."

---

Adrian studied the map, nodding. "And what about his allies? We need to turn them against him."

Damon's eyes gleamed with malice. "Leave that to me. I'll plant seeds of distrust. Make them see Anthony as a liability and he won't have any choice but to join us.

Adrian nodded, his mind racing with the plan. He would pretend to befriend Anthony, gain his trust, and then use that to destroy him. It was a clever move, and Adrian was confident it would work.

"Good," Damon said, his eyes gleaming with approval. "Now, let's talk about Marcus. We need to find out how he regained his sight and what he's planning."

Adrian's expression turned thoughtful. "I'll see what I can find out," he said. "But what about Anthony's allies? We need to turn them against him."

Damon's smile was cold. "Leave that to me," he said. "I'll plant seeds of distrust and make them see Anthony as a liability. He won't have any choice but to join us."

Adrian's eyes narrowed. "And what about Mom?" he asked. "She's still a wild card."

Damon's expression turned calculating. "We'll use her to our advantage," he said. "We'll make Anthony think we're willing to hurt her if he doesn't cooperate. That'll keep him in line."

Adrian's face hardened. "I don't like using Mom as a pawn," he said.

Damon's smile was predatory. "Sometimes, sacrifices need to be made," he said. "And this is one of them."

Adrian nodded reluctantly, knowing that Damon was right. They needed to do whatever it took to win.

"Let's get to work," Damon said, his eyes gleaming with determination. "We'll bring Anthony down and reclaim our rightful place."

Adrian's expression turned fierce. "Together, we'll do it," he said.

And with that, the two of them set their plan in motion, determined to destroy Anthony and anyone else who got in their way.

#### Scene 1: Adrian's Fortress

Back at Adrian's fortress, the tension was palpable.

Damon leaned in, his voice low and strategic. "We try to get him on our side. He is driven by emotions, and I think we can exploit that. Make him think you want to be friends, that you want to settle all differences since you both are brothers."

Adrian nodded slowly. "I can do that. But what about Marcus? His return complicates things."

#### Scene 2: Planning the Deception

Adrian studied the map, nodding. "And what about his allies? We need to turn them against him."

Maxwell hung up the phone with a determined look on his face. He had just finished talking to Elliot and knew time was of the essence. He made his way to Damon's office to deliver his message.

As Maxwell entered the office, he found Damon and Adrian deep in conversation, their faces set with resolve.

"Alright, step up your games," Maxwell said, interrupting them. "I just spoke with Elliot. He's getting more intel on Anthony's movements. We need to act fast."

Damon's eyes flickered with interest. "What did Elliot say?"

Maxwell glanced at Adrian before continuing. "Anthony's alliances are weaker than we thought. There are cracks we can exploit. If we move quickly, we can turn his supporters against him."

Adrian nodded, a sly smile forming on his lips. "Perfect timing, Maxwell. We're already planning to manipulate Anthony's emotions. This will make it even easier."

Damon leaned back in his chair, his fingers steepled under his chin. "Good. We have a lot of work to do. Maxwell, keep us updated on Elliot's progress. Adrian and I will focus on executing the plan."

Maxwell nodded. "Understood. Let's bring Anthony down."

As Maxwell left the room, Damon and Adrian exchanged a look of grim determination. The pieces were falling into place, and their plan was set in motion. They would stop at nothing to see Anthony broken and their power restored.

Sophia sat on the cold, hard floor of her prison cell, her mind racing with a mix of guilt and sorrow. The flickering light from the lone bulb cast eerie shadows on the walls, mirroring the turmoil within her.

Tears formed in her eyes as memories of their once happy family flooded her mind. She missed Marcus so much, especially the time when they were together with Anthony, before everything fell apart.

The weight of the current situation pressed heavily on her. Everything happening now was her fault.

It was her fault, and she couldn't help but blame and beat herself up. If she hadn't gotten involved with Khalid in the first place, she wouldn't have been entangled with Damon, and none of this would have happened.

Sophia's thoughts spiraled as she recalled how her choices had led to this moment.

Her involvement with Khalid had set off a chain reaction of events that had torn her family apart. She had been naive, thinking she could navigate the dangerous world of power and politics without consequences.

Now, her sons were at each other's throats, and Marcus had been caught in the crossfire.

A shiver ran down her spine as the cold of the cell seeped into her bones. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to find some semblance of warmth.

The loneliness was suffocating, but the worst part was knowing that she had caused this. She had betrayed Marcus, and in doing so, had betrayed their son as well.

The sound of footsteps echoed down the corridor, and Sophia's heart raced. She wiped away her tears, trying to compose herself as the door to her cell creaked open. A guard stepped inside, his expression unreadable.

"You have a visitor," he said gruffly.

Sophia's heart leaped. "Who is it?"

The guard didn't answer, merely stepping aside to reveal the visitor. It was Damon, his face a mask of cold determination.

"Sophia," he said, his voice devoid of warmth. "We need to talk."

Sophia's stomach churned with a mix of fear and anger. "What do you want, Damon?"

Damon stepped closer, his eyes boring into hers. "You need to help us bring Anthony under control. If you don't, things will only get worse."

Sophia's eyes widened in horror. "You want me to betray my own son?"

Damon's expression didn't change. "If you don't, he'll die. Do you want that on your conscience, too?"

Sophia's heart felt like it was being squeezed in a vice. She knew Damon was manipulative, but the thought of Anthony being hurt or killed because of her was too much to bear. She lowered her head, her resolve crumbling.

"What do you need me to do?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Damon's smile was thin and predatory. "Write a letter to Anthony. Request a meeting with him. Make him believe that you want to reconcile, that you have something important to tell him. We need to draw him in."

Sophia's mind screamed in protest, but she knew she had no choice. She had to protect her son, even if it meant betraying him once more. With trembling hands, she took the pen and paper Damon handed her and began to write.

---

Sophia's hands shook as she put pen to paper, the weight of her actions pressing heavily on her. She paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before she began to write.

```
Dear Anthony,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. There are so many things I wish I could say to you in person, but circumstances have made that impossible. I know you must be feeling hurt and confused, and for that, I am truly sorry.
There are things you need to know, things that have been kept from you. I cannot explain it all in this letter, but I need to see you. It is of utmost importance, not just for us, but for the future of our family. Please, Anthony, grant me this one meeting. Let us try to find some way to heal the wounds that have been inflicted upon us all.
Meet me at the old oak tree near the southern edge of fortress grounds. You know the one. I will be waiting for you there.
With all my love,
Mother
```

Sophia finished writing and stared at the letter, her heart heavy with sorrow and regret. She knew this could be a trap, but she also knew it was the only way to keep Anthony safe. She folded the letter carefully and handed it to Damon.

Damon's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he took the letter. "Good. We'll make sure this gets to Anthony. And remember, Sophia, any sign of betrayal and your son will pay the price."

Sophia nodded, her spirit broken. She watched as Damon left, leaving her alone in the cell with nothing but her guilt and the faint hope that somehow, this would all end without more bloodshed.

---

Sophia's thoughts were a tangled mess of guilt, fear, and sorrow as she lay back on the cold cell floor. The weight of her choices bore down on her, each one a link in the chain that had brought her to this moment. She knew she couldn't undo the past, but she prayed that somehow, she could make things right for Anthony, Marcus, and herself.

But deep down, she feared it was already too late.
