Capítulo 4: Chapter 3 – What's the Problem...

Ley Kagenou POV

After finishing my breakfast, I reflected on the week that had passed since Issei became a demon. His situation did not concern me; I was living the life I had always desired. A tranquil existence, free from interruptions, in my cabin situated in the middle of a forest, surprisingly close to Kuoh City's park.

Looking at an apple with a painted face, I spoke: "I'm not alone, Will Apple." This apple had become my only companion for conversation, aside from the thugs I occasionally encountered—purely by coincidence—in some alleys. Will Apple, of course, remained silent. "I'm not crazy, Will!" I insisted, talking to the apple which, to my eyes, seemed to doubt my words.

With a sigh, I looked at Will Apple with my tyrannical smile. "Kukuku, no jokes, Will. I am as sane as the power I possess." I stood up and settled comfortably into the armchair in the living room, picking up Ainz's spellbook. It was time to continue reading and explore more spells that I didn't even remember existed.

Immersed in reading, I was absorbed by the complex world of magic, discovering spells and techniques that expanded my understanding and skills. As the day progressed, I lost myself in the study, seeking to delve deeper into the powers I now possessed.

As I continued to read, I felt as if Will Apple was calling out to me, prompting a sharp response on my part. "Enough, Will Apple, I am not crazy, and don't call yourself 'just an object'," I scolded, though I knew I was talking to an inanimate apple. Will, of course, remained motionless. "Enough, I've already said I'm fine. Look at this, <Animate Dead>!" I exclaimed, casting the spell on the apple. I quickly realized my mistake. "Ah, wait, that's a spell for animating the dead, not objects," I reflected, realizing that the spell had found no target.

I was about to return to my reading, ignoring the imaginary 'voice' of Will Apple, when I heard knocks at the door.

TOC TOC!!

The sound reverberated through the cabin, surprising me. "Who would be knocking at the door? I'm literally in the middle of the woods," I questioned myself, hearing Will Apple's 'voice' in my mind again. "What are you saying, Will? I'm not answering. What if it's some religious fanatic?" I argued, rejecting Will's idea of opening the door.

Third Person POV

As Ley approached the door, he murmured two spells to assess who was on the other side. "<Mana Essence>! <Life Essence>!" he whispered softly. Through these spells, he could visualize the amount of mana and life/HP of the person outside. "Seems surprisingly normal. The mana is not much more than twice that of an ordinary human, and the HP is exactly like that of a human," Ley thought, analyzing the visitor's MP and HP essence levels.

Before opening the door, Ley prepared a precautionary spell. "<Hold Magic: Time Stop>," he murmured, ready to cast the powerful 10th Level spell capable of stopping time for a few seconds. Feeling prepared, Ley took a deep breath and placed his hand on the doorknob.

When he opened the door, he saw a familiar figure. "Asia Argento..." he recognized mentally. Before him stood a beautiful young woman with long blond hair and green eyes. She wore a dark blue nun's outfit with light blue details, a white veil, a brown backpack, and brown boots with black straps. She also wore a silver cross necklace.

"Um, excuse me, but do you know where the church in this town is?" asked the young nun. Ley was puzzled. According to the DxD novel he had read in his previous life, Asia should have met Issei, who would help her find the church.

Without showing any concern, Ley adopted an expression of disgust and slammed the door in the girl's face. "How did she find my house in the middle of the woods?" he questioned himself, astonished. Then, he heard the knocks on the door again, this time with a tone of desperation more evident.

TOC TOC!! TOC TOC!! TOC TOC!!

"I'm not interested in religion, go to another house!" Ley exclaimed, hoping the young nun would leave. "Damned and useless Issei, this is your fault. You should take care of your future wives, but no!" he shouted in his mind, frustrated with the unexpected situation and the interruption of his tranquility.

"I'm sorry for the trouble I'm causing, sir," the gentle voice of Asia sounded from the other side of the wooden door. Ley, after a moment of reflection, dissipated all the spells he was maintaining, including the 10th Level <Time Stop>. With a sigh, he turned to Will Apple. "Don't look at me like that, Will. You know I don't want to get involved," he spoke to the inert apple.

The knocks at the door weakened, and Ley looked again at the apple, which seemed to silently accuse him. "Alright, Will Apple, but just this once," he conceded to the imaginary accusations of the apple.

Ley approached and opened the door again, finding Asia's expression changing from distressed to hopeful. "Listen, As- Coof Little Nun, I'm kind of busy," he said, almost revealing that he knew her name without her having mentioned it. "Besides, what are you doing in the middle of the woods?" he asked, confused.

"Woods?" Asia seemed puzzled, looking around. Ley mimicked her and saw children playing nearby. "What the hell? Since when is my cabin so close to civilization?" he questioned himself mentally. Then he remembered how he always reached the park by walking through his woods. "So... this isn't a woods, but rather a mini-forest that borders the city park," he concluded, looking in the distance and noticing the park no more than 700 meters from his hut.

Asia's voice interrupted Ley's thoughts. "Excuse me, sir, but do you know where the church is?" Ley reflected, annoyed with the situation. "I don't know if I'm more irritated by her calling me sir or by taking more than a week to discover this wasn't a woods," thought the man with black hair. "Listen, little nun, I'm busy decorating my house, so I can't help," Ley responded, diverting the young nun's attention.

Asia began to speak, but Ley, resuming his role of a tyrant, adopted an intimidating expression, causing the nun to tremble. "Why don't you wait in the park, little nun? I'm sure a young man with brown hair will gladly help you," he said with a malicious smile, turning to enter his house.

Before closing the door, Ley glanced at Will Apple. "Don't look at me like that," he murmured, although the apple remained inert. "I said I would help this time and I did, didn't I? I pointed her towards where to find Issei," he justified himself to his silent companion. With the door now closed, Will Apple continued to be motionless. "How is that not helping?" questioned Ley, indignant, before sighing. "Fine, I'll take her to the church," he conceded, admitting defeat in the staring contest with Will Apple.

Upon reopening the door, Ley saw Asia, who was already walking away with a sad expression. Hearing the door open, she looked back with a smile, charmed by the presence of the young man who seemed like a king to her. "Just this once, let's go," Ley said, closing the door behind him and approaching Asia, who smiled with genuine happiness and innocence. "You're too pure for a world of fanservice and Ecchi, it's a pity that Issei corrupts you in the novel," Ley thought, observing the young nun. "Thank you!!" she exclaimed with great joy, positioning herself beside the 'Tyrant'.

Ley Kagenou POV

Walking beside Asia and maintaining my 'Tyrant' demeanor, I couldn't help but think: "Where the hell is Issei? I'm already in the park and there's no sign of that idiot." It was evident that he was missing.

"Eto..." Asia's hesitant voice reached my ears. I assumed she wanted to know my name. "Ley," I responded dryly. She tilted her head, confused by my terse reply. I sighed and added, "My name is Ley, Ley Kagenou." She smiled as if she had received the best gift in the world.

I didn't understand the fascination of the little one. "Nice to meet you, Ley-san. My name is Asia Argento," she said. I nodded, maintaining my serious expression and arrogant posture.

As we walked, the nun followed closely, and I reflected on the implications of my actions. I shouldn't alter the story too much, right? After all, Asia was still going to the church, so the main plot of the world would remain intact. I convinced myself of this as we walked.

Suddenly, we heard crying. Turning to the side, we saw a boy with a wounded knee. Asia rushed over to him, and I followed. She tried to calm him in Japanese, but I forgot she spoke English and Italian, not fluent Japanese. I automatically responded in English, without realizing.

I sighed and addressed the boy in perfect Japanese: "Hey, little shit, stop crying." Asia looked surprised, not understanding what I had said, but the boy looked at me, both scared and curious.

"Do you think girls are going to like a crybaby who cries over a mere scrape?" I taunted. The boy tried to hold back his tears, still frightened. "Kuku, most girls like strong and dominant men, someone they can depend on," I said, with a tyrannical smile. He stopped crying.

Asia, not understanding, just watched. When the boy calmed down, she healed his knee with a green light emanating from her hands. Getting up from the ground, she approached me, while the boy ran to his mother, trying to mimic my tyrannical smile.

As I watched Asia caring for the boy, I commented, "You have quite an interesting power there." She looked at me, embarrassed and somewhat resentful. "It was the gift God gave me," she replied. I knew that the Sacred Gears were creations of the Biblical God, and even though He was dead at this point, the system He created still distributed these gifts. "God, huh?" I murmured aloud, loud enough for Asia to hear. "I suppose you refer to the Biblical God, because of the silver crucifix on your chest," I said, as we began to walk faster.

Asia, walking beside me, asked, "Does Ley-san also believe in God?" In my previous life, I was a Christian, so I guess I could say yes. "I suppose you could say that," I responded, closing my eyes for a moment. When I looked at her again, Asia was smiling radiantly, almost as if she expected me to ask her out.

"That's great, Ley-san. Maybe you could visit me at the church." She suggested, but I did not want further involvement with the main story, so my internal response was a definitive 'NÃO, NO, NOT, NON!!'. "I'll think about it, Asia," I said, as we began to see the dirt path that led to the small, abandoned chapel at the top of the hill.

We arrived at the ruined chapel. "It looks like we've arrived, little nun," I said. Asia nodded and smiled. "Ley-San, would you like to have some tea?" A tempting offer, but I had other plans. "Sorry, little one, but I have work to do, maybe another time," I replied with my tyrannical smile, which made her laugh a little. "Yes, another time..." she said, a bit disheartened, before turning towards the church.

I sensed the presence of fallen angels inside the church, including that of Raynare. I hoped she hadn't forgotten our encounter. I materialized the sword from Touch-Me's armor, projecting the divine holy aura of the sword onto Raynare. I felt her energy shift to despair and fear, until Asia entered the church and closed the door behind her.

I dematerialized the sword and saw Asia's innocent smile. "Goodbye, Ley-San," she said. I responded with my usual tyrannical attitude. "Goodbye, little nun," I said before she closed the door. "<Greater Teleportation>!", I murmured, reappearing in my home.

Will Apple stared at me intently. "Shut it, Will Apple, I hated taking that brat," I complained, annoyed with the apple that seemed to question me for having enjoyed talking with Asia. But Will Apple continued to stare at me. "Ah, go to hell, Will Apple," I said, before heading to my bedroom, throwing myself on the bed, and trying to rest.

Third Person POV

Elsewhere, specifically at Kuoh Academy, in a building that, although it appeared abandoned, showed no signs of imminent collapse, an intriguing scene unfolded near what would be the main office of the Occult Research Club. Koneko, a girl with white hair, dragged an unconscious brown-haired boy.

"Koneko? What happened to Issei?" asked the woman with crimson hair, Rias. "I found him unconscious near the park, Rias-Buchou," Koneko replied with her expressionless voice. "Park?" Rias questioned, clearly confused. "Fufufu, could he have been doing something that left him like this?" suggested a third voice, Akeno. "I don't think so, Akeno," Rias replied.

Koneko then clarified the situation: "No, the only thing I found was a wooden plank that seems to have hit his head." Akeno and Rias exchanged glances, then looked at Issei, still unconscious on the floor. "Who would have thrown that at him and why?" Rias wondered.

(Flashback, hours earlier)

Let's see what happened at Ley's cabin. While he was practicing carpentry, he became frustrated. "Damn it, not a single board comes out perfect!" he shouted, annoyed by yet another imperfect board. Unlike the others, which were by his side, he threw this board far away.

Elsewhere, a mile and a half from Ley's cabin, Issei was running late to the Academy. He was approaching the park to cut through. "Damn, I'm late!" he exclaimed. Noticing something in the sky, he slowed down but couldn't dodge in time. The board struck his forehead, knocking him to the ground.

(End of Flashback)

"Well, when Issei wakes up, we'll ask him," Rias decided, taking a sip of her tea. Koneko and Akeno nodded.

Meanwhile, back at Ley's cabin, he was trying to sleep but sneezed. "Achoo... seems like someone is talking about me," he commented nonchalantly, before laying down again and trying to sleep once more.
