Emily's eyes were downcast, and her heart was full of apprehension. The whole hall was so still that even the drop of a pin on the floor was distinctly audible. She did not know if punishment or reward awaited her, and the unknown filled her with anxiety and perplexity.
The king's mind was impalpable, and the faint smile which he kept upon his face made it impossible to guess his real thoughts. He turned to Queen Mary and inquired, "My dear, what kind of reward do you think should be bestowed upon Emily?" His voice was calm and strong, and caused all present to catch their breath.
Queen Mary smiled and replied, "Emily was able to kill thirty Dog slaves with just her saber, which is enough to prove that she is a valiant woman. She deserves a reward more valuable than money."
Her eyes betrayed her admiration for Emily. However, she also skilfully left the decision to the king.
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
