"Hey there, son. I see you're awake," Bruce said, his tone gentle but laced with concern. The softness in his voice made Xander uneasy, his mind racing as he wondered if he was truly in safe hands.
"Do you feel any aches anywhere? I can ask the doctor to come check up on you right now if you feel any kind of discomfort," Bruce added, which only got him a wary look from Xander.
"Where am I?" Xander questioned. "Is my father here? You said you're his friend, so he must be here right?" He added.
Bruce grinned, and Xander already knew the answer to his second question.
He didn't need to ask Bruce to know the man was the one who saved him before he could die in the middle of nowhere.
"You said you're my father's friend…" he trailed off.
