42.85% A Kobold's Journey / Chapter 3: Chapter 2

Capítulo 3: Chapter 2

As I open my eyes a new form of clarity hit me. A feeling going down my arm's to the fingertips up to the crown of my head and down through each segment of my spine and down to the tips of my toes, the darkness around me much farther than before, the feeling of the damp moist air against my scaly skin and the smooth cold stone on my back, the distant shuffles and clanging, the murky smell of water vapor, and the taste of blood on my tongue. The tender yet quick movement of my muscles, the soft but frequent pounding of my heart, the damp air filling my nose, into my chest expanding it just a few centimeters before rushing out my mouth. Around me are other lizards, so small yet they're all growing, a few are as big as me. They look like lizard people, green scales with a pale scaly underbelly that goes up to their throat and underjaw, the rest of their skin covered in bigger and uneven scales, small horns at the back of their heads, a snout like a lizard, their legs are like the hind legs of a dog or cow, at their fingertips are their nails, or what should be nails are now claws, with webbed scaly hands. "Did I evolve? Status screen"

"Appraisal? Hey, I did get it, and my stats went up, but why didn't intelligence or wisdom? Is it because I didn't actually learn anything new? Darkvision and Scales also went up a few levels, but swordmenship didn't? Why didn't it? Well let's have a look at another kobold so I can compare" I look towards one of the kobolds "Appraise?" [Appraise? Y/N?] "It is the same, yes appraise"

"Very similar to mine but without swordsmenship and appraisal? Why? Wait, why did I receive those two skills than, can I see what a kobold is than? Appraise Kobold" [Kobold, a species evolved from Lizardlings inside dungeons] "Thank you captain obvious....Why is there such little information? Hmm, Appraise Appraise" [Appraise the ability to see the information of something else, gives more information the higher the level] [Appraise has leveled up 1 time] "Well talk about convenient, did it level up because I appraised appraise? No it's not something that stupid it probably went up because I appraised multiple times, appraise appraise" [Appraise the ability to see the information of something else, gives more information the higher the level and the higher the level allows to see past Appraisal block] "Hmm, appraisal block, so if my appraise level is higher then someone else's appraisal block I could still see their information? How much more information can I see now on a kobold now? Appraise kobold" [Kobold, a species evolved from Lizardlings inside dungeons and can evolve into half-kobolds, kobold mage, kobold trapper] "Evolution paths? Half-kobold? This is amazing, for one level up I can see so much more information! Appraise half-kobold!" [half-kobold, a kobold that is taller and more human like than other kobolds] "Wait, if I could continue down this path could I maybe become human? I can become human?!"

With a sudden rush inside me I spring up onto my legs as a few others around look at me in confusion, I look past them and to the cave we're in and then to the exit, or what I presume is the exit and I rush out, into the corridor. The corridor isn't a corridor, or well it resembles one, the floor is a smooth and has a few puddles every now and than, the ceiling has these long spike, stalactites, slowly dripping water into the puddles, I follow along the walls of this corridor until I reach a much larger room, the floor has changed into bricks, crackly and wet but their bricks, the walls and ceiling are the same and in the middle are other kobolds around a fire as a bat around half my size is on a long stick, it's blood slowly climbing down but dripping off into the fire, as the stick is being held by a big kobold wearing rusty leather as a loincloth and belt, a shoddy spear and an old helmet. "Appraise the biggest kobold"

"Greater? What's Greater? Why does it only have one level? Appraise Greater" [Greater, a buff given to a monster who hasn't evolved yet still gains levels, also increases max level] "So this gu- wow!" As I was observing the information one of the larger, or well greater kobolds approached and started looking at me before dragging me away. "H-Hey l-let me go! D-did I do something wrong? H-hey do you understand what I'm saying?" My questions go unanswered or more likely unnoticed as I'm brought to some room.

Inside the room are weapons and armor, the floor is bricks but the roof and walls is dirt, as I approach the mound of items I look back to the kobold who dragged me here, he was taller than me by maybe a foot, he wore a banged up chest piece and a loincloth with a club tied to the cloth. "He has three things, the guy before had three things. So am I supposed to get three things? I don't know how to communicate so I'll just get three" I found a leather loincloth and tied it around my crotch which I'd rather not explain in detail, I next grabbed a old leather breastplate, it was rough and sort of fuzzy as I equipped it, the leather breastplate was bigger than my size but fit well enough. I dug through the mound of items feeling the roughness of the equipment or the cold sharpness of a blade, until I wrapped my hands around something smooth, it was soft like leather but was smooth enough to not have been that old, I yanked it out and took a step back as I shoved it through the mound. In my hand was a blade, a blade with a slight curve, the blade had a few chips into it but was relatively clean, the cross guard was more scratched up and was rough, the handle was wrapped in a smooth leather which had indents where the previous user's hand was pressed up against. "How... weird? Shouldn't a pirate be holding this? Though beggars can't be choosers, and this..this feels right"

I backed away from the mound as I'm grabbed again and dragged away back into the corridor, and out to some sort of entrance, the entry way, was arched with bricks as other kobolds sat down on the ground against the wall as they looked at me with yellow eyes and black pupils as I was pushed out and into the rest of this cave, the walls of the cave were dark and cold, a sense of murkiness hit me as I looked back, and the kobold that dragged me here was holding up one of those bats, the bat was eyeless, it had long frizzly dark purple hair, large ears that flopped down from it's lifeless body, it's mouth was more of a snout and it's feet were long sharp talons. "Appraise Bat" [Hawker Bat, these creatures hang upside down in large caves and have long sharp talons] "Huh? Wait, why isn't it showing me it's status screen? Does it have appraisal block? Is it because it's dead?" The kobold points to the bat, to me, and finally to my weapon and he then leaves. "Hey, what the fu-" Screeecchhh A long high pitched screech echoed through the cave, dread yet a sense of hunger fills my body as I turn and see a Hawker Bat
