Ryu and Kaida laid numb on the bed unable to move their their body. They felt a sharp pain in their abdomen like they were being stabbed and their limbs were too heavy for them to lift.
Ryu turned turned to Kaida and whispered. "She is pushing us too hard," he said, his words acknowledging the torment both their bodies are going through. "This can't be the only way."
Kaida responds with a resigned sigh. " I know right?" She replied. "But what can we do? She is the one who knows how to handle the forthcoming threat and we have to be ready."
"I just don't understand why she has to be so cruel about it," he muttered, his words a whispered protest to Maria's methods.
Kaida gave no response.
"But what if she's right?" Kaida finally spoke. "What if this is the only way we can stand a chance against the yomigaeri?"
Ryu leaned in, his interest growing. "We need to be prepared," he said.
