Capítulo 210: A Grieving Man

John Smith looked at the old corpse of his first wife with horror. 

The body was in excellent condition because it was carefully embalmed before being turned into a statue. Keeping the original form was necessary to obtain the highest level of luck from it. 

The statue was the work of a discreet artist recommended by the yin-yang master, who helped him with the ritual of borrowing luck. He was as reliable as the master had promised, doing the job quite discreetly. 

Everyone in the village thought his wife was buried in the family graveyard. In reality, the body was switched out after leaving the mortuary. It was transported to the artist while a coffin with stones was buried. 

What John Smith did not understand was the reason the monument collapsed. He had the water fountain inspected and maintained regularly to prevent any accidents. He was assured the statue could stand for generations. 

He did not understand what went wrong.
