STELLA’S POV

My eyes wandered to the girl beside Tyler and I saw Maxine clutching his arms tightly. Great, just our luck. However, Maxine looked a little different. Heavy bags rested under her puffy eyes, her usually down and straight hair was tied up into a messy bun, and her whole demeanor seemed…tired.

My eyes shifted back to Tyler and he didn’t look good either. Tired eyes, unkept bedhead, and stubbles beginning to grow on his jaw. What’s happening?

Tyler’s eyes suddenly caught mine and they widened, and he immediately removed Maxine’s hand on his arm.

“Stella…?” he gasped, and this time around, Maxine’s eyes widened.

“Stella?” she asked. “Stella, the ugly nerd girl?” I could see in her eyes that she was about to cry as she eyed me from head to toe. A disgusting face spread through her like wildfire as she looked at me in front of her.
