The moment I stepped off the jet in New York, the weight of the situation bore down on me like a crushing force. The cool night air did nothing to soothe the fire simmering just beneath my skin.

My thoughts were consumed by Elena her safety, her well-being, and the threat that now lingered over her like a storm cloud.

Sydney's family had crossed the line, and I wasn't going to let them get anywhere near her again.

I climbed into my Lamborghini, the engine roaring to life as I sped through the city streets.

My hands gripped the steering wheel, knuckles white as my mind raced through every possible angle. The bastard who had confronted Elena today… I should've been there. I should've protected her better. 

How had it come to this? How had Sydney's family gotten so bold? My sources told me they were dangerous, yes, but this level of brazenness was unexpected.
