"Sir, one of the survivors says that the place we're headed to is strictly forbidden by the Three Spirits community!"
At that moment, Dominic was silently observing the city. Behind him stood George, who had just approached to share the information he had recently gathered. The place had been identified, and it was discovered that there were people there—a well-hidden site, but not well enough for the drones to miss.
"We have to go to that place, regardless of whether they are enemies or not." Dominic was conflicted about how to judge the Wolves, as they were known for their evil history and impractical goals.
Do they all share the same mindset?
Dominic didn't know, but now they were his enemies. He was also seriously considering taking France as a new domain, as Alabama was about to become a completely safe zone.
"Stop!" At the same time, a warning shout was heard not far away, grabbing the attention of those around him.
A woman with a scar on her face stepped forward, her face filled with tears as she cried out, "Please, the Wolves have my grandson... I know I'm being selfish, but I truly wish you could help me rescue him."
The soldier who was holding the woman back and Dominic, who was intrigued by what he was about to hear, both paused. When Dominic learned that a family member was with the Wolves, an idea formed in his mind.
"Let her come forward..."
Upon seeing the woman's eyes up close, Dominic nodded and said, "Of course, we're heading to that lake, but first, I want to ask you something—was your grandson taken by force, or did he join the Wolves of his own free will?"
When Dominic asked this question, the woman lowered her head and responded hesitantly, "He's just a foolish boy; he doesn't know anything about the world or the consequences of his actions. Please, help him."
"Hopefully, we haven't killed him already." Daryl turned his head and glanced at the bodies in the distance, some of which were killed by their own people, while others had fallen to the walkers.
But that wasn't important now. Dominic, who had caught everyone's attention, said, "We need to visit the Wolves, find out what they're planning, and of course, rescue anyone who's with them against their will."
"Let's move out!"
Dominic signaled the group, and everyone boarded the trucks and Humvees, ready for combat. To be honest, the place was quite far from Atlanta, so they were sure to be away for several days.
"Do you think they're a problem?" Daryl looked at Dominic and asked.
"They're dangerous. From what we've seen, they're willing to achieve their goals at any cost, hurting anyone in their way. That kind of mindset destroys everything we've built so far, so to answer your question—yes, they're dangerous."
Everyone kept quiet along the way. After all, they were soldiers, and their job was to follow orders and complete missions. There was nothing more they could do now. Eliminating enemies was just a small part of what they were trained for, and they had accomplished that.
...
After leaving the building, a long convoy moved towards the Wolves' base without stopping. Dominic sat in the vehicle, deep in thought. He had shared his next plan, and everyone seemed calm.
The group drove for more than an hour, finally reaching the place where the Wolves were hiding. But Dominic, being cautious, decided not to approach too closely. Instead, he positioned snipers to observe the surrounding area.
The trucks unloaded weapons, Daryl dismounted from a motorcycle, and with another group, drove off in a different direction. After that, a communication point was established with the central base, and drones constantly flew overhead.
However, what they didn't know was that the Wolves, after today's events, had no intention of engaging in further conflict. A person had managed to escape the incident in the city with the giant walkers, just as Dominic's group arrived.
Somewhere in France, there was a massive complex of buildings south of the Three Spirits community. This building was located on the outskirts of the city, with towering structures on one side and vast open space on the other. At their intersection was the city's avenue and a large stadium.
This enormous university stadium could easily accommodate more than 50,000 spectators and had once been a prominent venue. Precisely because it was a stadium, the open space was vast. For survivors, this place was ideal for living.
And that was the destination for several people. If Dominic had been there, he would have discovered that a man, along with another companion, was heading to this Wolves' refuge.
In no time, the two men arrived at the open area, and a group escorted them to the entrance of the stadium.
"Manny, why did you bring someone back? Where are the others?"
"They're all dead..."
"What?"
"Stop wasting my time, damn it. I've got something important to report to the leader. Open the door, quick."
Seeing that Manny wasn't in the mood to talk, the guard shrugged and opened the door indifferently, watching the pair enter. Soon, he saw the man with the cold expression walking beside Manny.
"Who are you, friend?"
The black man looked at the guard and said, "It's better if you don't know."
"Better, huh?"
The words slipped from the guard's mouth, and the man beside Manny showed no expression.
But he quickly realized that it was just a stranger, and his purpose for coming here was to find someone, so it wasn't wise to be too cold towards others.
A group of people passed through the remodeled entrance and arrived inside the stadium. As soon as they entered, there was a massive lobby, though it was surrounded by sandbags stacked as low walls for fortification, with survivors sitting behind them, watching the plaza outside the door.
No one was within 30 meters on either side of the hallway, and the passage was blocked by several objects. From the space, a dim light could be seen on the other side, and many people were moving in the shadows.
There wasn't much time to look around, but the people behind the man following Manny saw him push the door open. As soon as he opened it, his view was blocked by an ascending slope, but his sight immediately expanded as he walked up the slope.
"This, this is...!"
The open space in front of the stadium had changed completely. A vast area of crops filled the entire field, and many people were working the land.
The man following Manny seemed to have anticipated this reaction but wasn't in the mood to explain anything. The group walked to a private room overlooking the courtyard.
Two burly men stood at the door, their muscular bodies a clear warning not to cause trouble.
Manny plastered a smile on his previously expressionless face and politely greeted the two men.
"Bruno, where's Maicol?"
The big man looked at Manny, snorted, and answered. It seemed his attitude was always the same. Manny's expression didn't change at all. He still nodded with a smile and then pushed the door open and entered alone.
After more than ten minutes, the door opened, and Manny gestured to the man leaning against the wall to indicate that he could enter the room.
"Ha ha ha, my dear friend Sergei, welcome to the Wolves!"
