Capítulo 106: The Only Reason We Were Defeated, Part 1

"Remember, our priority is the safety and protection of any civilians who might still be trapped in the city," Dominic emphasized. After taking another breath, he added, "Stay calm, be brave, and remember your training. I trust each one of you. Glory to humanity!"

The soldiers rose from their seats, ready to embark on the mission. They donned their protective gear, checked their weapons, and mentally prepared themselves to face whatever awaited them in the walker-infested city or what was left of it.

Dominic led from the front, joining the soldiers on the ground. Together, they advanced with firm steps towards the city without any setbacks. It was all too easy to ignite the flames in the hearts of these people, especially if they were patriots.

All those most affected, when they saw the heart of their country, felt rage. That rage was turned into fuel, and for Dominic, these people were truly valuable soldiers.

As they ventured into the desolate streets, the soldiers encountered a dismal sight: ruined buildings, abandoned vehicles, and the constant presence of walkers wandering aimlessly.

However, the desire for change within the soldiers did not waver. They moved with precision and efficiency, using tactics and strategies learned in countless previous missions. The sound of firearms and the clash of melee weapons echoed through the air as they advanced towards the heart of the city.

As they made their way through the walkers, the soldiers demonstrated remarkable skill and unwavering bravery. Their training was evident in every movement, every accurate shot, and every lethal strike.

The sound of orders and battle cries filled the air, mingled with the grotesque groans of the walkers. It was a fierce and challenging fight, but the soldiers did not retreat.

Only now did everyone understand that they had not lost because they were weak; they lost due to the internal conflict that had existed among them. The indifference of the leaders had led this country to its destruction, and that was what Dominic would change. He could be anything but an indifferent man.

But since he was a leader beloved by all, he stayed behind; everyone wanted to protect him in the best way possible without him even asking. "Everything will be much faster than we expected."

The helicopters had carried away the hordes of walkers, so they only had to wait for the ground team to eliminate the remaining walkers.

...

Southern Zone of Washington.

Soldiers Jackson and Ramirez ventured into the streets of what was once a beautiful place filled with memories, their rifles ready and their senses heightened. The city lay in ruins, with buildings in rubble and an air of desolation hanging over it. The presence of walkers was evident, and their task was clear: eliminate any threats and secure the area.

Jackson looked at his partner and whispered, "This doesn't seem like an easy task, Ramirez. We're surrounded by walkers everywhere, but I'm sure there are more problems inside the buildings."

Ramirez nodded and replied in a sharp voice, "I don't know why, but I feel like something is watching us from the buildings."

Both soldiers advanced slowly through the streets, watching every corner and listening intently for any signs of movement. The groans of the walkers echoed in the air, creating an oppressive atmosphere.

Jackson suddenly stopped and raised his rifle. In the distance, he saw a group of walkers approaching them. "Get ready, Ramirez! We have company."

The walkers drew closer and closer, and Jackson and Ramirez opened fire. The gunshots echoed through the desolate city, attracting the attention of other nearby walkers who hadn't been drawn away by the helicopters. Chaos erupted as the soldiers fought against the horde of disfigured beings.

"Keep your distance, Jackson! Don't let them get too close," Ramirez shouted as he aimed accurately at the walkers.

Jackson nodded and replied, "Don't worry, I'm on it!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The soldiers moved without any fear, shooting with precision and keeping the walkers at bay. As the horde dwindled, fatigue set in, but they didn't let their guard down.

After a hard-fought battle, they finally managed to eliminate all the walkers in the area. Jackson and Ramirez found themselves in the middle of the street, breathing heavily but satisfied with their success.

"We did it, Ramirez! Our first mission away from home, I feel incredible," Jackson said, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Ramirez nodded and replied, "We need to keep moving and make sure our area is completely walker-free before we report in."

The young soldiers were excited; they, who had once feared the walkers, were now eliminating them in all these streets.

Elsewhere, two other soldiers, one who was crazy about killing walkers and the other a more experienced soldier named Kim, were facing their own challenges.

Soldiers Kim and Nick found themselves face-to-face with a group of walkers rapidly approaching them. The space was narrow, making it difficult to use their rifles effectively. Without wasting a second, both soldiers drew their combat knives and prepared for close combat.

The walkers lunged at them with outstretched claws and rotten mouths, seeking fresh flesh. Nick and Kim moved with agility, dodging attacks and looking for opportunities to strike.

Nick took advantage of a walker's momentary distraction and lunged forward, stabbing his knife into the creature's skull. With a quick, precise motion, he withdrew his weapon and turned to the next approaching enemy.

But when they thought everything was fine, a black figure moved too quickly to be seen from above.

"What the hell was that?"

Nick was about to speak when suddenly a beast landed in front of them.

"Shit, is that a damn monkey?"

"Don't think, shoot!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

...

"Repeat what you just said, soldier!"

"There are infected monkeys and goddamn gorillas."

Boom!

Dominic, who was in the rear, ordered, "Send in the explosive drones. I want a detailed report on this."
