They were an all-around powerhouse, but their most exquisite troops were focused on cavalry and archers; in the Endless Plains, the cavalry would prove to be his strongest weapon, while the archers could be helpful defenders and ambushers as well as scouts if need be.
"Hehe," Gresvin smiled. His thoughts wandered, and he thought that if they followed the same system as in the game, he would be able to nurture a few very strong cavalry. His only concern was that he was not too sure how they would rank compared to this world's ranking.
Gresvin carefully went over the system functions a few times like a baby who had gotten a new toy.
After thoroughly examining the system, he realized that it was based on the game, but the summons followed the same strength path as this world. He was almost overwhelmed with pure bliss when he saw the system's confirmation.
After his initial excitement calmed down, he couldn't help but wonder what the reasoning was for the system suddenly awakening after so long.
He quickly found the reason for it; a notification appeared under the news column. Gresvin repeated the notification: "Congratulations on awakening the Empire System! Due to earning the loyalty of the village people, you have been rewarded with a newbie gift pack."
"Loyalty? How come?" he was perplexed by the reason. He tried to think of what it could possibly be, but after a few unsuccessful attempts, he decided, "I will ask the village elder later. Maybe he could tell me what happened all of a sudden."
"Hehe, then without further adieu, I accept the newbie gift pack!" he shouted in his heart loudly. The transparent screen changed, and the git pack's items appeared before him.
{Newbie Gift Pack}
{ - 5 Recruits }
[ - 1000 Aurums }
His eyes seemed as if they were about to burst open as they sparkled. 'Five recruits! 1000 Aurums!' He could not believe his eyes. The money was something he desperately needed, but the recruits were absolutely something he was ecstatic about.
They will form the first echelon of Gresvin's new army. After the system awakened, Gresvin thought that since they were available, he would use them to the best of his ability, building a force stronger than any seen before. 'Haha, I would never have thought that I would have the chance to build a force of my own. This system had come just in the nick of time,' he sighed.
When Gresvin accepted the pack, he realized that there was a notification that said, 'Aurums delivered to inventory.' When he went to check, there it was: the 1000 Aurums, all huddled together in a pile.
The other notification told him that the five recruits would arrive in 30 minutes from the woods near his cabin. Gresvin found it strange that they would appear from the woods, but after some more thought, he believed that it was not too bad; panic would ensue in the village if five armed men appeared once more, and what would he tell the villagers when they appeared?
For the moment, he did not have a clue as to how he would explain their presence, but he believed that he would cross the bridge when he came to it. For now, he did not need to overthink about such nitty-gritty stuff.

Time passed exceptionally fast, and the time for the recruits to appear had come; Gresvin stood outside the forest awaiting their arrival. Soon, five silhouettes appeared from the depths of the forest. 'Finally!' Gresvin rejoiced happily. The five men walked out of the dark forest, and only then was Gresvin able to see them clearly.
The five men looked pretty much the same, and their ages seemed to be the same. They did have different appearances, but their armor and weapons were the exact same. Gresvin could see they wore leather jerkin armor with a small legionary helmet. Their weapon was a Gladius short sword, the standard kit of the recruits found in the Western Empire in the game.Gresvin could not contain his excitement and went forward. The five young men then assembled and greeted Gresvin, "Greetings, my Lord!" Their voices were quite loud and firm. Gresvin greeted them in response and roughly spoke, "I am Gresvin Oakfall, and I welcome you to my humble abode."
The six quickly became acquainted. All five were recruits, meaning that they had little to no training. Due to their equipment, they were only slightly stronger than the villagers.
One of the men's names was Marcus. He was the oldest by quite a large margin, even though he was still in his 20s.
After they had met and Gresvin came to learn a bit about them, he let them settle down for a while and went to his cabin. A new notification had appeared, and he was curious as to what it was. Once he was sure he was alone and no one would disturb him, he called out the system and searched for the new notification.
{Military Tree is available to view}
The notification was short, but Gresvin was able to understand what it meant immediately; he quickly went to his window and tapped on the {Military} column.
{Two options available}
The information was limited, but the notification showed what types of units the recruits could evolve into; the names were Imperial Infantry or Imperial Archer. Gresvin was not able to look beyond the two classes, and how to advance was never stated, which gave him a certain degree of trouble.
As Gresvin was about to close the window, he realized there was an asterisk sign behind the recruit's name. When he opened it, a good amount of information appeared on the screen.
