Capítulo 15: Another one

Leticia slowly opened her eyes, wincing at the brightness of the room. She sighed weakly, trying to remember how she'd ended up in bed.

Her gaze flickered around the room, and she froze when she saw Devon sitting beside her, his head on the board and eyes closed. Her heart raced, and she sprang up, her eyes fixed on him.

Her heart skipped a beat and his eyes opened immediately. Leticia sprang up in shock. Leticia's heart raced fearfully, and she wondered why she was so frightened. Why was he in her room?

Devon frowned, his expression questioning, "Why are you springing about? "

She stared at him, unsure how to respond and she took a step back, "I...I don't know."

Devon stood up and walked towards her, and she became rooted to the spot. He stopped close, his eyes searching hers. "Are you still shocked from what you saw?"

Leticia frowned, her head spinning. "What did I see?" She had no recollection of anything.

Devon raised a brow, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. "Are you playing dumb, or do you really not remember?"

Leticia shook her head quickly. "I can't recollect anything. I just woke up. Why are you in my room?" That was the only thing on her mind.

Devon nodded and turned to leave. "Never mind that."

"Are you leaving already?" Leticia asked and immediately felt stupid.

Devon stopped but didn't turn around. "Shouldn't I?"

Leticia bit her lip, unsure what to say. "Not that...it's just that I haven't seen you for days now, and..."

Devon finished her sentence, his voice low and husky. "You missed me."

Leticia's cheeks flushed, and she protested, "I did NOT!"

Devon smirked and turned to her, his right hand reaching out to tuck a loose strand of her now blonde hair behind her ear. "It's okay. I missed you too."

Leticia's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up at him, her eyes wide. Devon's gaze held a soft, genuine smile and her blood raced through her veins. She's never seen him smile pleasantly! It made him more attractive than he already was.

She looked down at her bare feet, her cheeks flushing from his touch, "You sent me away that day. I thought you were mad at me."

Devon sighed, his fingers curling around a strand of her hair. "Hmnn. You annoyed me. I'm doing you a favor by keeping you alive, but then you don't seem to appreciate it. It's annoying."

Leticia nodded, her eyes cast down. "I'm sorry."

Devon's smile returned, but it was his creepy, mischievous grin, his red eyes glinting with amusement. "Huh. It's okay."

"Thank you, Master," she said, bowing her head. Devon's smile grew wider. "I like it when you call me Master."

"I don't," she deadpanned, her tone dry.

Devon chuckled, "You're not supposed to. Freshen up. It's dinner time."

Leticia's eyes widened in surprise. " Did I sleep that long?"

"Thirteen hours, to be precise," Devon replied nonchalantly. She gaped, shocked. "And you were here? Why?"

Devon shrugged, his expression changing to a blank one, "Since you can't recollect, I won't tell you. It's even better you forgot. It wasn't a pretty sight." He glanced at his wristwatch. "Dinner in fifteen minutes."

With that, he left, leaving Leticia feeling puzzled and curious.

Leticia entered the dining room, and Seraphim's glare immediately caught her attention. She maintained a straight face as she approached the table.

"Sit there," Devon gestured, indicating the chair to his left. Leticia hesitated, "Oh... okay."

She sat down, facing Luis, and she smiled at him. He returned the smile, while Seraphim glowered at her food, her expression murderous.

Dinner was silent and delicious, but Leticia's enjoyment was short-lived. As she finished eating, she felt a familiar sensation creeping up her throat.

Her head began to spin, and her vision blurred slightly. She knew the signs all too well - her nose was about to start bleeding again. Panic set in as she quickly scanned the table, hoping no one had noticed. Her eyes met Devon's who was obviously staring at her, and for a moment, she thought she saw a flicker of worry, but it was quickly replaced by his usual, unreadable expression. She turned to him, her voice barely above a whisper, "Can I go?"

"Hmmm," Devon hummed, his response vague, his eyes narrowing slightly as he watched her hurry away.

Leticia bowed and quickly exited the room, her haste evident in her steps and the faint trembling of her hands. Quynn watched her leave, his gaze piercing, sensing something was amiss.

Luis immediately excused himself, rushing after her while Seraphim just rolled her eyes, "Pretentious bitch."She murmured to herself.

Leticia ran to her room, her feet pounding against the floor, and straight into the bathroom. She bent over the sink, looking around for a tissue or wipe when she felt something rise up her throat.

The next minute, blood poured out of her mouth. Her eyes went wide in fear. The blood splattered into the sink with a sickening gurgle. Her whole body shook as she leaned on the sink and puked some more.

Luis, who had been contemplating at the door, his expression worried, decided to enter, his voice urgent. "Leticia!" he called out but she wasn't in the room.

He then heard a groan. It was very low but he heard and immediately rushed into the bathroom.

He found her slumped on the floor, blood seeping from her mouth, her face deathly pale. He rushed to her side, lifting her up; she was alarmingly light, her skin pale and cold to the touch, her eyes closed as if lifeless. "Leticia, can you hear me?" he called out urgently as he flashed into the bedroom and laid her on the bed.

Her eyes opened slightly, and her croaked voice whispered, "M-medicine..."

"Where?" Luis asked quickly, knowing hell would break loose if anything happened to her.

"In..." She coughed, struggling to speak. She was too weak to keep her eyes open in fact. She was about to give in to the darkness when Quynn appeared beside them. He opened her drawer, his movements swift and purposeful. He retrieved a tiny glass bottle and handed it to Luis, who helped Leticia sit up.

Luis opened the bottle, releasing a refreshing minty scent that filled the room and he brought it up to her lips. Leticia took a small sip, and almost instantly, color rushed back into her skin, and she exhaled a sigh of relief.

The two men watched her, their expressions varying. Luis asked, concerned, "Are you okay? How do you feel?"

Leticia smiled weakly, "I'm good. Thanks, Dr. Quynn."

Quynn stared intently at her, "Quynn."

Leticia looked confused and turned to Luis, who chuckled, "He meant you should call him Quynn, without the 'Doctor'."

"Oh! Okay, Quynn," Leticia corrected, smiling slightly. However, Quynn didn't react or reply, simply striding out of the room.

Luis opening the drawer and taking out some wipes. Carefully, he began to wipe the blood on her lips, concern etched on his face, "You scared me."

Leticia smiled bitterly, "It happens all the time, so I'm not surprised at myself."

He sighed,"Don't worry, you'll get better soon."

Leticia raised an eyebrow, "You think so? I don't think there's a cure."

Luis spoke cautiously, "There is, and you just have to take it; else, this can kill you. It's deadly."

She looked confused. Did he even know what kind of illness it was? Luis picked up the bloody wipes, standing up, "I should go. Get some rest."

Leticia smiled, "Thanks a lot, Luis."

Luis smiled back, leaning down, "Anytime, pretty. What are friends for?Sleep tight," and he walked out.

Leticia smiled to herself, "He's so nice." As she lay down to sleep, a thought crossed her mind, "Didn't Devon know about this, or did he just not care?" She sighed sadly, "He could have at least checked up on me. That mean devil doesn't even care about me..." She frowned, realizing, "Damn, I'm so stupid. He can't care about me; I'm just his slave."

Devon smirked, listening to her talk to herself from the doorway. He had been there the whole time, hearing her quiet murmurs ever so clearly. 'Silly girl,' he thought, walking away. He went to his room, thinking.

Earlier, he knew something was wrong as she dashed out of the dining but he couldn't rush after her. Luis has done that. And so has Quynn. Those two better not try anything funny. Especially that Quynn. Silent motherfucker!

He knows his feelings for Leticia went beyond lust; he desired her deeply, wanting her to be his. He recalled the marking he saw in her eyes that night he'd seen her.

Devon shook his head, pushing the thoughts aside. He looked out his window. It's a full moon tonight. A smile graced his lips.
