Chapter 51: A Little Rambling

Let me think about where to start... Hmm, let's begin with how this book came to be.

The origin of this story dates back to when I couldn't write my thesis proposal and went to chat with my online group. A friend jokingly said that if I were to be transported into a book, I would definitely be a good candidate for the monster route.

The character of Alice was born that very night when I heard that remark. I was chatting with a friend about it, and after our conversation, the first chapter you see was created.

You'll notice that in the first chapter, many things are unclear. For example, Alice has amnesia; she has no memories of the original owner nor of herself. This part wasn't initially a foreshadowing; it was simply because I hadn't thought about these details when I published it (shifts eyes).

Following this logic, it's easy to understand why she could only remember a name "Huanhuan" at the beginning—because I hadn't given her a name yet...

As for her original identity, which you all have been guessing... Hahaha, how could there be one when I hadn't even named her? (Now there is, now there really is (sincerely)).

So, when I saw people reading it, I was quite confused. But I still couldn't write my thesis proposal (what is that), and every time I opened the document for the proposal, I wanted to update the story (…).

For about a week at the beginning, all my updates were written after opening the thesis proposal document. A week later, I finished the proposal and found that quite a few people were reading the book. I thought, well, let's continue writing then (wipes sweat).

At that time, I jokingly told my friend that I was like a GM who had never read the module.

The full name "Huanhuan" first appeared in Chapter 25. What happened then? I received a contract notification, which scared me into urgently writing an outline...

Yes, when you saw Huanhuan's full name, I had already written the module's truth (what is that).

Although this book started rather haphazardly, I took it seriously when I began to weave the truth into it. I mean, I filled in all the gaps I had left because I hadn't planned them out. From now on, they are all foreshadowings!

Alright, let's talk about Alice's character next.

When I first decided on her name and sequence, I had thought about this. She is a "Lucky One," an "Intruder." In the past you know, Huanhuan was a high school student who hadn't yet faced the college entrance exam, had experienced some disasters, but overall lived a peaceful and stable life.

She grew up in an environment full of love and happiness. Her biggest worry each day was what to eat the next day, and when exam results came out, she would temporarily worry about not doing well.

When she lost all her memories and stepped into another world, she first faced the warm family of night watchers and the familiar reading and studying from her memories—what expectations could you have for her abilities?

To put it nicely, she was naive; to put it bluntly, she was silly and sweet, even foolish.

Alice in the first volume is such a naive, reckless girl who likes to play pranks but has no real malice.

If you say the similarity between Alice in Wonderland and this Alice is that she accidentally entered another world, then when I tell you that the name "Brier Rose" comes from Sleeping Beauty, combined with the original work of *Lord of the Mysteries*, you might already have guessed the similarity between Alice and Sleeping Beauty.

Of course—this part is only hinted at in the second volume. The real truth will probably have to wait until the next volume (unless I decide to combine the second and third volumes after some consideration).

If I haven't deviated too much while writing, the second volume should have two themes.

One is what I mentioned at the beginning: Alice's experiences will gradually grow. She will never become a scheming, ruthless person; her psychological age is a factor. But she will gradually learn not to trust strangers easily, learn to be cautious, and learn to be independent (this includes not relying on others and not relying on luck).

Besides these, there are many other things, bits and pieces, like not realizing her appearance was unsuitable before entering the Brave Bar, or noticing that she writes all her emotions on her face... In short, these are all part of her experiential growth. Throwing a child out into the world for a while will either make them grow up or die (wait a minute).

You might say, how could she die so easily? Yes, Alice used to think that too, which is why you saw the Alice that first appeared. This is also why I needed her to face Ince Zangwill, watch everyone die, and then be killed without any resistance—I needed her to undergo a psychological transformation, to combine two pains, and make her recall her past desires.

After all, only when the knife cuts into oneself does it hurt, and Alice has never truly accepted that she is Shen Yinghuan (I have hinted at this point both explicitly and implicitly). The incomplete memory makes her see Shen Yinghuan and herself as two different people. She even refers to Shen Yinghuan in the third person.

Experience can be accumulated over time easily, but if you rely on time to push psychological changes, you might as well hope for a bottle of Sequence 1 potion to fall from the sky and pour it into her mouth—that would be much faster.

The other theme is one of the meanings behind the title of this volume—she will gradually accept herself as part of the other world, rather than an outsider or an intruder.

And, Alice really doesn't know the plot. Her understanding of the plot is very... um, let me put it this way, Shen Yinghuan died thinking Klein and Amon were really in love ().

Alright, my rambling is done. Good night, everyone (collapses).
