Capítulo 124: Micah - 12.2

I grabbed some parchment and ink, my mind already buzzing with ideas for a new type of project. This was no ordinary proposal; it was something that could revolutionize the work I was doing. I hurriedly sketched out a rough outline on the parchment, labeling it Support Proposal 1: Human-Sized Golem.

The concept was ambitious. The golem would stand six feet tall, a towering construct of power, durability, and intelligence. I could already see it in my mind—a formidable guardian, a companion, perhaps even more.

Power and Core: At the heart of the golem would be an Aurorian crystal, its immense energy driving the entire system. Surrounding this central core would be five high-quality mana crystals, which would serve as the golem's main batteries. The Aurorian crystal would recharge these crystals when they were depleted, while absorption enchantments would prolong the life of the power reserves. The challenge, I knew, would be in harmonizing these mana crystals, ensuring they worked together seamlessly without causing instability.

Body Structure: The golem's skeleton would be forged from the same special alloy I had concocted—a mix of faux-thundersteel and the mystical metals created by Magnar's sun spell. For the flesh, I would use latex, which had proven to be incredibly durable, while the skin would be made from my custom gambeson. I began calculating the volume of materials I would need—the latex to fill the volume of an adult human, the metal for the skeleton, and the amount of grass to coat the skin. It was a lot, but I knew it could be done.

I paused to review my calculations, hoping that Professor Ironwood might be able to help with resource acquisition. Just as I was jotting down the last notes, I heard the door creak open. I turned to see Lodur entering, his face twisted in an expression of exasperation.

He stopped short, taking in the transformed room—the expanded space, the dual-level bed, the neatly arranged workshop, and, of course, the presence of my golems. His eyes widened as he tried to process everything.

"By the gods," Lodur muttered, his voice tinged with disbelief. "What have you done to our room?"

I smirked, placing the parchment down. "Improved it," I replied simply. "There's more space now, and it's more efficient for my work. Your bed's still there, just... elevated."

He let out a long sigh, rubbing his temples as if trying to ward off a headache. "I leave for a few hours, and this happens," he grumbled. "I don't even know where to begin."

"Begin by appreciating the upgrade," I suggested, turning back to my work. "There's plenty of room for both of us now. And besides, it's better this way. You won't even hear me working when you're up there."

Lodur shook his head, clearly at a loss for words. "You're something else."

I shrugged, already engrossed in my calculations again. "I've heard worse."

As he continued to mutter under his breath, I could feel his eyes lingering on the parchment filled with my plans. He didn't say anything more, though, and after a few moments, he climbed up to his new lofted bed without further complaint.

"Say... Lodur," I began, glancing up from my work.

He grunted, his voice muffled as he adjusted himself on the elevated bed. "Yes...?"

"What do we do for dinner around here?" I asked, suddenly realizing that I had no idea where to find food in this place.

Lodur sighed, his irritation evident. "You don't know about the dining hall?"

I shook my head. "Not a clue. Care to show me?"

He peered over the edge of his bed, narrowing his eyes at me. "Do I have a choice?"

I chuckled, standing up and dusting off my hands. "Think of it as a thank you for the solution to our quarrel."

He rolled his eyes but started climbing down from his bed. "Fine, fine. But don't expect this to become a regular thing."

"Noted," I said, trying to hide my grin as I followed him out the door.

Lodur led me through the winding halls of the Arcanium, his pace brisk as he muttered under his breath about how someone could possibly not know about the dining hall. We passed through corridors adorned with intricate tapestries and large windows that offered glimpses of the courtyard below. The sound of students chatting and the occasional burst of magical energy from a misfired spell filled the air.

After a few turns and a short descent down a grand staircase, we arrived at a massive building. Its towering doors were wide open, and the rich scent of food wafted out, making my stomach growl. Inside, rows upon rows of long tables stretched as far as the eye could see, filled with students and teachers alike. The hall buzzed with conversation and laughter, a stark contrast to the quieter, more focused atmosphere of the classrooms.

The tables were laden with a mix of strange and familiar foods. Platters of roasted meats, bowls of vibrant fruits, and dishes filled with ingredients I couldn't even begin to identify. Some students used their mana to form utensils, while others seemed to prefer the old-fashioned way of eating with their hands. The teachers also sat dispersed throughout the hall, eating and chatting with some of the older students.

Lodur gestured to an empty spot at one of the tables. "Find a seat and eat. The food's not bad, and if you're lucky, you might even find something you like."

As I reached for a plate of something that looked like roasted fowl, the girl who had dragged Lodur off earlier appeared at the table, slipping into the seat across from us.

"Lodur," she said with a teasing grin, "looks like you found your compromise."

"Unfortunately," he replied, rolling his eyes.

She laughed, a light, melodic sound that contrasted with Lodur's perpetual annoyance. Turning to me, she raised an eyebrow. "I don't believe we properly introduced earlier."

I gave a small nod. "Micah. And you are?"

"Freja," she replied with a smile. "Lodur's sister."

The resemblance between them was subtle but there—the same sharp features and piercing eyes, though Freja's expression was much warmer.

"So, Micah," she said, leaning in slightly, "how are you finding the Arcanium so far? Managed to not get lost yet?"

"Just barely," I replied with a smirk.

Freja chuckled. "Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. Everyone's a bit overwhelmed at first. Besides, if you can handle sharing a room with my brother, you can handle anything."

Lodur scowled at her, but there was a hint of a smile in his eyes. "Very funny, Freja."
