The evening sun filtered through the tall glass windows of the new branch's opulent foyer, casting long, golden streaks across the marble floor.

Guests had started arriving, their excitement palpable as they mingled and admired the elegant surroundings. Liam stood near the entrance, shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries, but his mind was elsewhere, preoccupied with thoughts of Fiona.

After they had talked that morning, he had not heard from her again. The event was set by 6 pm but it was already 7 pm and yet, she wasn't anywhere in sight.

For the past hour, Liam had been glancing at his phone, hoping to see a message or missed call from her, telling him she was on her way or something.

He had sent several texts, all of which remained unread, and each time he dialed her number, it went straight to voicemail.
