"You... you despicable old bastard!", his wife screamed on the phone angrily, which only made the man smile.
Liam waited for a second before speaking, "Well, fifty percent going once... twice... and thr-"
"I'll give you seventy! Seventy percent!"
'This wench...', the man thought but before he could speak, Liam turned off the loud speaker and brought it towards his ears, "Miss Hui Min, we only take stuff that you own. You have no way of paying that much right now, do you?"
A few seconds later, he hung up and looked at the middle aged man, "One Million will be enough. Transfer it to this account right now and you'll be safe. Once you do, I'll give you one good news and one bad.", he said as he tossed his phone towards the man.
Catching the phone accurately, the man looked at the account number that was on the screen and hurriedly used his own phone to transfer one million. Once he was done, he gave the phone back to Liam.
"So, good news or bad news? Which one do you want to hear first?"
"I... Please tell me the good news. I'm not mentally prepared for any kind of bad news right now..."
Liam smiled, "Congratulations! Your official wife passed away while talking to an unknown person on the phone."
"You mean..."
"Yes. And the bad news is... *sigh* your parents were both killed by your wife. It must have looked like a natural death but that is not the case. She simply gave them anesthesia and blocked their means to breathe.", he said as he began to walk towards the door.
The man stood up, his lips quivering, "H... how did you find out?"
"That's a secret."
Not long after, Liam stood in front of a familiar gate and instead of opening it, he directly jumped over it. Right before he was about to ring the bell, he heard footsteps behind him.
"You done?", he asked as he turned around to see a petite girl smiling at him.
She crossed her arm across her chest before giving him an annoyed look, "Of course. It's always me who has to do the dirty work."
"You said that you'd do anything for money right? Why are you complaining now?", he asked as he rang the bell.
"Hmph, you're saying that when you reject a lot of high paying jobs just because they're bad or what do you usually say.. hmm let's see.. "I don't like this, helping a congressman kidnap a civilian's wife is something I don't want to do. Is there a way we can help this woman, Robert?" Heh, wasn't that pretty accurate?"
Liam ignored her and walked inside as the rood had been opened.
"Haaah, this righteous bastard can't even help me get more money...", she complained as he walked behind him.
She was the second member who Robert had gotten into the team after Liam and she too, was a serum user. The only difference was that she was a high grade human while Liam was a top grade.
"Were there any inconsistencies this time, Reed?", he asked as he turned to look at the tall, nerdy looking guy who was staring at his laptop.
Reed was the third person who joined their team and unlike Liam, he was someone who had used a mutation serum which gave him the ability to see through people's memories as long as he made physical and eye contact with them.
"Yes captain. There were no flaws this time. Sir Robert has taken care of the transferred money for us so we should receive it soon. As for the cameras, they were disabled before the two of you took action and unlike last time, when Morgan tried to extort the guy she was assigned to follow."
Liam nodded and lied down on the sofa before closing his eyes, "I'm tired so don't wake me up."
"Roger, captain."
"Yeah, go to sleep, you lazy bastard."
Liam switched bodies and found himself standing in front of a board that had a paper pinned to it.
'Ah... I was late. Well, at least the plan went well. I put in just enough effort so that I could get a pass to the academy. All that's left right now is to see if the efforts were enough.', he thought as he looked at the board where the results were pinned just a second ago.
Once he found his name on the paper, the corners of his lips perked up as he took a step back so that he could get out of the crowd. Just as he was about to leave the examination area, he heard someone call out his name.
"Liam Blushat! Please report here."
Changing his direction, he walked towards the woman who called his name, "I am Liam Blushat."
"Okay. Get inside the car that's waiting for you at the entrance and you'll be taken to the academy. As for the stuff that's in the hotel, those will be delivered to your dormitory."
"Understood. Thank you for the help.", he said and walked towards the entrance where a normal looking car was waiting for him.
He knocked on the window and once it opened, he inquired, "Hello, I am Liam. Is this the right car?"
"Yes. Get in. I'll drive you to the academy and I'll explain the general stuff about the academy on the journey. Of course, I'll only be telling you the stuff that the general population doesn't know of. There is another special student for whom I'm supposed to take with me so you'll have to wait for a while.", a gruff looking man said as he aggressively chewed on gum.
Liam silently got into the car and waited while he checked his phone.
'A little over nineteen thousand rudo... I'm a kid with decent savings here but if I transfer the money I have in my avatar's account... heheheh money really makes me happy.', he thought as he stared at his bank balance.
