Capítulo 53: A Stage Is Set

Mrs. Xia was soon led by an officer to identify the body. She comes back sobbing uncontrollably. Xia Xingxing, though falling apart herself, tried to comfort her mother. Feng Ruoxi didn't even know what to say nor do. She stood there, her fists clenching harder with each passing moment. Jiang Yukang kept looking at her; he could hear her teeth grinding from where he was standing. He knew that she wasn't going to let this slide. 

They allowed the mother and daughter to calm down, and finally, they rode home. Feng Ruoxi's voice cut through the somber silence, "Mrs. Xia, I think you should come spend the night with me."

Mrs. Xia shook her head, her eyes rimmed with despair. "No, we don't want—"

"What if the person who killed him comes back for you?" Feng Ruoxi's words hung heavy in the air, causing Xia Xingxing and her mother to flinch, exchanging apprehensive glances.
