Claire noticed the tears streaming down Katie's cheeks and quickly reached out, wiping them away gently with her index finger.

"Oh, sweetie, please don't cry; it's not good for the baby you're carrying," she said softly, her voice filled with concern.

"Has Aiden been misbehaving? If he dares to treat you poorly, don't hesitate to call me. I'll give him a good talking-to—or maybe even a spanking," she added with a hint of a smile, trying to lighten the mood.
