Bel smiled as she sat on the other side of the couch. Mallory smiled back, but she didn't undo her hands around her body. She wasn't looking around, frightened, so Bel was going to take that as a good sign.
"You shouldn't have come if here makes you uncomfortable," Bel mumbled, peering at her. "I would have gone to you instead."
"No, not uncomfortable. Sorry," Mallory said and looked away.
"You have nothing to apologize for," Bel whispered. She turned her frame to the side so she was facing Bel directly, while Mallory sat straight with her gaze ahead.
"Earlier," she mumbled, turning to Bel then quickly turning away.
"You mean when you brought my breakfast?" Bel asked.
Mallory turned to Bel with wide eyes and nodded vigorously. "Sorry," she repeated.
