Roselia didn't think she'd ever witness someone eat a hamburger with elegance. Cruden's hands were large enough to make the food look like a child's toy. His bite leaked juices that slid upon his long fingers, dripping onto the plate.
"It's good." Cruden glanced at the mess on the countertop, finishing the burger with ease that made her wonder if he was even human.
"I uhm, don't know how to operate the dishwasher," Roselia said, fidgeting with one of the plastic wrappers. "I'll clean up—"
"Leave it. I'll clean."
Roselia's eyes bulged out of her skull. She thought he was joking, but he started quickly rinsing the dirty dishes and loading them into the washer.
Cruden's hands moved with a rhythm that revealed he had done this many times before. He was fast and efficient. Within five minutes, he was wiping the countertop clean, turning on the machine, and sliding her out of the kitchen.
