Capítulo 4: STEPHANIE'S CALL

the sun rose over the villa, casting a warm glow over the sleepy countryside, Luc woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He groaned, reluctantly reaching for the device on his bedside table. The caller ID displayed Stephanie's name, and he hesitated before answering.

"Hello?" he said, his voice still heavy with sleep.

"Luc, it's me, Stephanie," came her voice, filled with urgency.

Luc sat up, suddenly wide awake. "Stephanie, what do you want?" he asked, his tone cold.

"I need to talk to you, Luc. Please, just hear me out," Stephanie pleaded.

Luc sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Fine, but make it quick," he said, not wanting to prolong the conversation.

"I made a mistake, Luc. I know I hurt you, and I'm sorry. I want to make things right between us," Stephanie said, her voice trembling.

Luc felt a surge of anger and betrayal. "You want to make things right? After you cheated on me?" he exclaimed, unable to contain his frustration.

"I know I messed up, Luc, but please, I still love you. I want us to be together again," Stephanie said, her voice pleading.

Luc's anger turned to disbelief. "You love me? After everything you've done? I can't believe a word you say, Stephanie. It's over between us," he said firmly, ending the call before she could respond.

As he sat there, trying to process the conversation, Luc couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. He knew that his relationship with Stephanie was toxic, and he was glad to finally be free of it. He knew that he deserved better, and he was determined to move on with his life.

But little did he know, Stephanie had other plans. Plans that would change everything.

Luc took a quick shower, dressed and left the room. He was determined to keep himself busy today. He didn't intend to let the thought of Stephanie ruin his day. He did his normal round of inspection of the staffs to ensure maximum satisfaction of the guests. After he accomplished this, he headed for the swimming area. He needed to cool off.

the sun rose over the hills of Provence, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange, Sophie woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. She groggily reached for it, blinking away the remnants of sleep. The call was from her office in Paris, and her heart skipped a beat as she answered it.

"Hello?" she said, trying to sound alert.

"Good morning, Sophie," came the voice on the other end. It was her boss, Mr. Dupont. "I'm sorry to disturb your vacation, but we have an urgent matter that requires your attention. If you could come back to Paris immediately, there's a chance for you to be made partner."

Sophie's heart raced at the news. Becoming partner was something she had worked towards for years, and the thought of achieving it now, through her own hard work, was both exhilarating and terrifying. She knew she had to take the case, but she also knew that it meant leaving Luc behind.

After the call, Sophie lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, her mind in turmoil. She knew that she had to leave, that this opportunity was too important to pass up. But she also knew that telling Luc would break his heart. She decided to take a walk around provence.

Sophie wandered the streets of Provence, her mind consumed with thoughts of Luc. She knew that she had to tell him about the offer, but she couldn't bear the thought of leaving him. She found herself at a crossroads, torn between her love for Luc and her desire to fulfill her career ambitions.

As she walked, she passed by a small café and decided to stop for a coffee. She sat at a table outside, sipping her drink and watching the world go by. She thought about all the memories she had made with Luc, all the moments they had shared together. She knew that she would never forget this summer, this time of love and passion. She also reminisced about the time she and luc had had coffee at the very spot she sat. Smiling in a sad way to herself. She departed after finishing her coffee. She was going back to the villa to meet luc. She wanted to spend one last happy and memorable moment with him.

Sophie made her way back to the villa, her heart heavy with the knowledge that she would soon have to leave, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the time she had spent with Luc. She knew that their love was true and strong, and she was determined to cherish every moment they had left together.

When she arrived at the villa, she found Luc waiting for her on the terrace, a small smile playing on his lips. He stood up as she approached, pulling her into a warm embrace.

"I've been thinking," Luc said, his voice soft. "I don't want our time together to ever end, let's get married. I want this moment in provence to mark the beginning of the celebration of our love." He knelt down on one knee, revealing his most priced possession. His grandmother's ring. "Marry me Sophie" he said.

Sophie felt tears welling up in her eyes. She knew she should accept and she also knew she shouldn't break his heart. He had been through so much in life already, but she needed this promotion. She needed her Job back at the firm, she needed to be partner. Confused of what to do, she found herself frozen. He stood placing the ring in her finger with a broad smile on his face, She still couldn't move. Then he planted a kiss on her lips. His lips were soft and firm at the same time. They were fire melting her frozen state. She found her fingers cupping his face her lips matching his in utmost tranquility. She let out lazy low moan as his tongue found hers his arm tracing it's way up under her blouse unhooking her bra. His fingers found her breasts. They were such fine moulds that fit perfectly in his palm. He stroked her nipples making her legs shiver and give way. He lifted her making her wrap her legs around his waist. One hand holding her perfectly shaped bottom, the other securing her head in place. He headed for his room, an urgency in his strides.

Sophie was confused, she was about to reject his proposal one minute and she was engaged the next, she was like ice one moment and another she was melting. A raging fire erupting inside of her. She kept moaning repeatedly she didn't realize when she reached the bed with next to nothing on her body. Luc had undressed her and she didn't even notice. He took a step back staring at her, clad in next to nothing. With a mischievous glint in his eyes. He left the room.

Luc left the room shirtless and closed the door behind him. He stood on the terrace, the cool evening breeze brushing past his long hair and sending it to mad frenzy around his face. He had gotten a call from the staff in charge of reservations this afternoon after swimming that one of the guests had shortened their stay and asked if she could get a refund. He was shocked when he learnt it was Sophie. His Sophie. She was going to leave without telling him. He raked his head to think of anyway he might have hurt her, but he couldn't think of any. He was willing to give up his life in Paris just for her. Heck! And she didn't even say a word to him. He thought he would make her stay with his proposal. He hoped she'll change her mind if she thought of what she'll be loosing out on. He was going to move his practice down to provence. He was going to start afresh here. With Sophie. His Sophie.

Sophie laid on the bed, surprise filling her being. How could he get her to such heights and then abandon her like that. He had sent her to the moon only to live her crashing. She was about to get up when luc came back Into the room. He undressed completely and climbed into bed.

They cuddled in silence till they both fell asleep in each other's arms.
