Capítulo 3: Chapter 3 Dragon Slayer on Duty (Although a little baby yet)

After Director Cilan announced that Roy was about to embark on his journey, the staff spontaneously began preparing for a farewell ceremony.

For everyone, Roy's story was very inspiring. In the environment of the sanatorium, where they had been trying to overcome psychological shadows for years, Roy, who had fought and conquered his inner demons, was now rejuvenated and ready to pursue his dreams.

The farewell ceremony took place at noon. After bidding farewell to the elderly and children they cared for one by one, the staff led Roy into the dining hall.

A lavish lunch was already laid out on the long table. Roy searched through the cooked dishes for a while; the ingredients all seemed normal. He felt both reassured and a little lost inside.

"I really wish I could try Braised Magikarp," Roy murmured to himself.

After chatting with the staff he was familiar with for a while, Roy suddenly realized that this farewell ceremony wouldn't make much of a difference without him. A giant prize wheel was placed near the dining hall's serving area, surrounded by a pile of gift boxes. The attire of his colleagues didn't seem like they were bidding him farewell for a journey; it seemed more like they were attending a grand ball.

"Alright, I admit we just wanted to sneakily have some fun. The farewell party will turn into an event later." One of Roy's familiar colleagues caught him staring at them suspiciously. "Okay, I admit it, we just wanted to have some fun."

Roy couldn't help but facepalm. He had been wondering if the farewell needed to be so grand, but it turns out this group of people just took the opportunity to have some fun.

"What kind of rewards are there?" Roy pointed to the gift boxes piled up in the corner and took a bite of a piece of meat, unsure of what animal it came from.

"Director Cilan provided the grand prize and first prize, and we all chipped in some. We have everything from battle items for Pokémon battles, berries, to some optional decorations. Oh, right, here's a list of the prizes. I forgot to put it up; you can take a look."

Roy took the list of prizes.

Grand Prize (1 winner) - (??)

First Prize (1 winner) - (??)

Second Prize (2 winners) - Pokémon decorations (??)

Third Prize (3 winners) - Pokémon care items (??)

"You don't know what the Grand Prize is?" Roy asked, not interested in the consolation prizes. He figured if it was a lottery, he might as well aim for the best.

As soon as he asked, a loud cheer erupted in the dining hall. Roy turned to look at the prize wheel, which had landed on the area marked for the Grand Prize.

"Damn it!" Roy felt like he had jinxed himself, and the Grand Prize was gone in an instant.

The colleague with an explosion of luck cheered and picked up the blue gift box with the Grand Prize label in the corner. Amidst the rhythmic cheering of everyone, they carefully opened the box.

Inside the box was a Poké Ball.

The cheers grew even louder as the colleague couldn't resist the crowd's enthusiasm and tossed the Poké Ball out.

If looks could kill, Roy would have slaughtered his colleague a thousand times over. Because what popped out of the Poké Ball was a Happiny.

The must-have divine beast for home travel, AKA the Pink Demon after evolution, was incredibly useful for someone a bit lazy like Roy. In the future, if he needed to hatch eggs, he could just hand them to the Pink Egg, saving a lot of trouble.

Roy had heard that Director Cilan had obtained several Pokémon from Professor Rowan to help with the work at the sanatorium, but he didn't expect one of them to appear in the lottery.

Watching his colleague who won Happiny happily show it off, Roy squeezed through the crowd that had gathered around and, when nobody was looking, gave the roulette handle a firm pull.

The crowd suddenly quieted down, and the sound of the roulette spinning echoed through the dining hall.

Roy prayed silently, knowing it was just for his own comfort, but it was better than nothing.

The Grand Prize wasn't clearly described, but what came out was a Happiny. The First Prize also had no description, most likely another Pokémon obtained from Professor Rowan.

The rapidly spinning wheel began to slow down, gliding past the areas for the Third Prize and the Second Prize, but it didn't stop on any of them.

It passed over the consolation prize, glided past the Grand Prize that had already been taken, and in Roy's excited gaze, it came to a halt in the narrow gap between the First Prize and the Second Prize...

Everyone was staring in confusion, trying to figure out what this meant, when the wheel gently nudged downward ever so slightly, coming to a steady stop in the area marked for the First Prize.

Was this a stroke of incredible luck?

You see, Roy had never been fortunate with anything related to draws in his past life. Even when playing mobile games and hoping for a character he liked, most of the time he only managed to get the guaranteed hit.

Even when they told him that every new character pool guaranteed a five-star in every ten pulls, everyone else would do single pulls repeatedly until they got the five-star, then stop. But Roy, the unlucky kid, would pull ten times in a row before getting a five-star.

Others advised Roy to save up a good amount of gems, saying he'd get characters in the process of pulling. Only Roy, the unlucky one, managed to get the character he wanted after using up a whole lot of gems, and all the other characters he got were ones he already had...

The current situation was like having just enough for one more pull, but someone had already taken the guaranteed prize from the current prize pool...

Roy's colleagues were dumbfounded too. The wheel hadn't even really started spinning, and it was almost over... The first two people had directly snagged the big prizes...

Now it was Roy's turn to be stared at with jealousy, envy, resentment, and some murderous intent in the eyes of his colleagues.

Picking up the other blue gift box from the corner, Roy swiftly tore open the packaging. As he had guessed, inside was another Poké Ball.

"Another Happiny!" Roy silently chanted to himself as he threw the Poké Ball out.

The Poké Ball bounced once it hit the ground, and a small, round, blue Pokémon with an air balloon-like tail emerged.

Trembling, Roy crouched down and gently lifted the bewildered little creature with his hands, feeling its cool, icy touch in his palms.

His colleagues were also interested in this adorable little guy, but their reaction wasn't as enthusiastic as when Happiny was revealed. Only Roy knew that this little one's future is limitless. Although it might not have the entire forest whispering its name, the Dragon-type Pokémon were probably going to cry out in despair...

It could stand tall and shout at all Dragon-type Pokémon, "Who else?" "Not a single one of you can fight," "I don't mean you specifically, but everyone here is trash."

The battle rules in the Sinnoh region restricted the appearance of Fairy-type Pokémon. However, experts and scholars in the Kalos region were intensively researching this new category. Once their research was complete, the introduction of the Fairy type could overturn the existing battle rules.

For now, it was just a Azurill, but when the scholars of Kalos announced their research on the Fairy type, it would become a dragon-slaying hero.

It seemed that his reincarnation wasn't entirely without perks. At least in terms of understanding the meta he is ahead of the curve.

Beside him, Ralts watched the blue Water-type Pokémon, Azurill, very cautiously, for no apparent reason. It seemed like her owner was very happy about this Water-type Pokémon.

Holding Azurill in his arms, Roy looked at the bustling crowd, shaking his head with a wry smile, and quickly finished the food on his plate. His farewell party had turned into a full-on celebration, and he didn't mind this relaxed farewell atmosphere. Picking up the backpack he had already packed, he walked out of the care home alone, only to see Director Cilan standing at the door, accompanied by an Alakazam.

Roy was taken aback for a moment and asked, "Did you arrange this?"

"It wasn't me. I think Alakazam thought it looked too plain and decided to give you a little extra," Director Cilan replied.

Roy looked at Alakazam, but Alakazam arrogantly turned its head away.

"You said I could only take one with me," Roy reminded him.

"Right, last night you chose to take Ralts with you, but the draw is another matter," Director Cilan winked at Roy. "If you have bad luck, there's nothing I can do. I just went with the flow when it landed between two prizes."

Roy didn't say thank you. Saying thanks for Director Cilan's kindness would have felt awkward.

Roy flipped open his backpack and checked once again. Inside, he had compressed biscuits, water, clothes, his phone, two thousand league coins, a simple sleeping bag, and that Ultra Ball.

He never quite understood why Ash didn't bring a phone on his travels. The communication in this world was highly developed, and a phone served far more purposes than just making calls. You could browse the internet, scroll through large community forums, search for trainers in the area for practice matches, and with the latest models, you could even use the scanning function provided by the phone to check the properties of certain items. It could be said that it realized most of the functions of the original Pokédex.

"Got everything?" Director Cilan asked.

Roy nodded, following Director Cilan to the bus stop not far from the care home.

There was a direct bus between Sandgem Town and Twinleaf Town, or rather, in the entire Sinnoh region, most areas had very convenient transportation. Cities, towns under the cities, all had convenient transportation tools commuting daily. Of course, most new trainers didn't use these transportation tools. In their eyes, an adventure was about climbing mountains and facing challenges head-on.

So it wasn't surprising that there were quite a few missing trainers every year. It was a wonder they could still have a growing population under such circumstances. It was almost unimaginable.

Unlike the hot-blooded rookies, Roy wasn't the type to get all fired up for adventure. If he could take a bus, he would take a bus. Part of the reason, of course, was that he was a bit lazy.

While waiting for the bus, Roy and Director Cilan exchanged some information about Azurill. He learned that this Azurill actually likes sweet foods, much like Ralts.

However, Ralts doesn't seem to like Azurill's appearance very much; she has tried to grab Azurill's tail with psychic powers several times...

Azurill loves sitting on the ground, resting on her tail, but upon seeing Ralts mimicking her actions, she starts to mimic Ralts.

After stopping Ralts from bullying the newbie, the bus stopped at the platform.

Before getting on, Roy looked back at Director Cilan.

"If I fail, can I come back?" Roy asked.

"What nonsense are you talking about, an experienced caregiver like you? Traveling expands horizons, I should give you a raise for being hired," Director Cilan laughed heartily.

Roy also laughed, feeling a hint of loneliness and emptiness as he looked back at this charming rehabilitation center for the last time through the window as the bus doors closed slowly.

After the sight of Director Cilan and the healing center completely disappeared from view, Roy sighed, holding Ralts and Azurill close to his chest. He leaned back in his seat, closed his eyes, and rested.

The journey had officially begun from this moment, and he tried his best to keep his body in the best condition.

He couldn't predict what kind of attitude Professor Rowan would have towards his arrival. In Director Cilan's world, Professor Rowan looked very serious but was actually a quite kind person.

He treated Ash and Dawn extremely well. However, after staying up late last night to read various news and information, many details of this world seemed to differ from what he knew.

With a hint of unease, Roy drifted into a drowsy sleep in the swaying of the bus.
