"WYNTERFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEST! IT'S WYNTERFEST! WYNTERFEST WYNTERFEST WYNTERFEST!" Ruby screamed, rushing through the entire house like a blur of red and rose petals, dashing about with her feet pounding heavily against the floorboards as she banged on doors and generally made a nuisance of herself.
The only saving grace for her excitement was the fact that the sounds and smells of a freshly cooked breakfast were also wafting around as she and Penny cooked up a storm in the kitchen.
"... One of these days I'm gonna kill her," Yang groaned quietly, squinting up at the ceiling of her room and grumbling as she spied her alarm clock in the corner of her still blurry vision, blinking the sleep from her eyes and groaning louder at the fact that it was six in the fucking morning . "Six in the morning on a fucking holiday break… Why Ruby… Why?"
"Because your sister doesn't need to sleep and because it's her second favorite holiday?" Weiss sighed, slowly sitting up and rubbing her eyes as she idly looked out at the snow covered landscape through the window, huffing at the fact that their team leader was making them wake up at an ungodly hour again. "And, it's Ruby. We've been getting up at weird times all year because of her. What's another day?"
"Mrrnghgh… I think I preferred being in Menagerie," Blake coughed slightly, dry and grumbly as she fumbled around for her glass of water and gulping it down before setting the emptied glass back down on the end table whilst snuggling back down under the covers so she didn't have to feel the pre-dawn light against her eyelids, nor the chill of the room against her skin. "It's warm down there. Quiet. Better food… that Weiss also got banned from."
"... It was just the one place…" Weiss pouted, huffing indignantly as she flopped back against Yang and sighed as Yang's natural warmth pushed the chill out of her skin- despite her ice aligned Aura, she still didn't like waking up to a cold room, dammit. "And…-"
"You binge-ate so many spicy wings you literally passed out on the floor of the place we took you to. Honestly, Weiss. Moderation is good, you know that right?" Blake deadpanned as she continued cuddling against Yang, none of them really wanting to move while the house slowly came alive with the sounds of people moving and Ruby dancing in the hallways to loud Wynterfest music. A warm breeze wafted through the room, full of the scent of rose petals, and they all immediately knew that going outside had immediately become a tripping hazard.
Hopefully the breakfast Ruby made would make up for it.
"Yes, but that restaurant owner was also very nice to me when I nearly ate his entire stock," Weiss huffed, crossing her arms petulantly and nuzzling against Yang's other shoulder.
"Yeah I think he was just really impressed. Also, really thankful for that giant wad of lien you just kinda forked over like it was nothing," Yang pointed out with a roll of her eyes as she leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss to Weiss' temple- the positioning slightly awkward from how they were all laying, but still. "Honestly, I genuinely think that people were less bitchy about Weiss in Kuo Kuana than they were to me somehow. I have no clue why."
"It… probably was the binge eating now that I think about it. It's been a while but… I mean… eating a lot from one place is considered a sign that you really, truly appreciate what they have to offer," Blake shrugged a little, ears twitching slightly as she pulled the weighted blanket up and around herself a little more and casually nibbled on Yang's shoulder and left a few little marks behind to show her affection. "It doesn't make it right how many people were rude to you both, but at least all the important people were happy to see you there."
"Grandma Josei made some rockin' tandoori chicken," Yang mused, giggling a little as Blake's canines dug into her skin and wrapping her arms around both Weiss and Blake so she could hold them close. "Mmm… this is nice… should probably get up before Ruby starts knocking the door down, though, yeah?"
"Yeah yeah…" Blake sighed and grumbled, then slowly pulled herself out of bed and shook herself off with a ruffle of Aura, her long, silken hair trailing behind her in waves of flowing black as she pulled it all up into a long, elegant ponytail with a cute little bow at the base of her neck. "Think we have time for a shower before breakfast?"
"Not if you're planning on washing all of that right now," Weiss answered, rolling out of bed and huffing as she dragged a comb across her head and vaguely brushed her messy, terrible bedhead into something resembling her usual array of artful spikes and fluff.
Honestly, aside from a few stray cowlicks, there wasn't much… if any difference.
"I'm genuinely surprised how out of the three of us, somehow you're the one who decided to opt for all of this," Yang spoke up then, walking up behind Blake and gently tucking a few stray hairs behind Blake's ear with a small grin. "You had the shortest hair of the three of us when we first got to Beacon, and now Weiss has the shortest, and you have the longest. It's kinda wild."
"You still cut off a bunch of your hair too," Blake pointed out with a little huff. "Even with the skinny tied up tails."
"Yeah, but I did it as a symbolic reason because I accepted that I had to grow out of that whole 'woe is me, I need to protect my sister forever' thing I had going on… and also because I saw a style in a magazine that looked super hot," Yang shook her head lightly, slipping a sports bra on under her night shirt as she rolled her shoulders. "You just picked that super long hair because you wanted to be like the ninja girls in your hentai manga."
"... S-shush."
"Look, all I'm saying is that it's hot , but also like… do you really need floor length hair?" Yang asked.
"... Maybe not, but… ugh. Fine. I'll cut it to a more reasonable length. Sorry for not having a huge moment of personal growth to define my hairstyle," Blake grumped grumpily, crossing her arms as she grabbed her knife from her equipment pile and immediately hacked off the entire bottom half of her hair in one fell swoop. "Tada."
"... I didn't mean right now , in my room…"
"Yeah, well… fuck it. I don't have impulse control in the morning, you know this."
"... Blake, you barely have impulse control at the best of times," Weiss rolled her eyes, taking the bundle of removed hair from Blake's hand and winding it into a self contained cord that she summarily plopped into the trash. Nearly four feet of hair, gone in an instant, leaving Blake… with a hairstyle almost exactly identical to what she had at the beginning of their first year, just now with her bow as a ponytail ribbon instead of concealing her ears. "Need I remind you that while I got kicked out of four of the twelve chain restaurants on Menagerie, you have a standing ban from eating more than four servings at any fish based restaurant in Kuo Kuana, enforced by your father?"
"... Shut the fuck up or I'm gonna claw you," Blake hissed, making a clawing motion towards Weiss.
"Don't threaten me with a good time, hmph!"
"Okay fine, shut the fuck up or I won't bite you."
"W-wait hang on a moment we can negotiate-"
"Nuh uh, no way, not after all of that!"
"But- but- I like it when you bite me! You haven't bitten me at all yet! You've bitten Yang already!"
"And now I'm not gonna nibble on you all day."
"That's not fair! Bite my neck right now! Blake!"
"Nnnnnnope! Not until you apologize for-"
"... Hey guys? Are you uh…?" Ruby cleared her throat awkwardly as she stood there in the open door, Yang having slipped out to use the bathroom across the hall while the black and white pair bickered and halfway wrestled as Weiss tried to shove her neck into Blake's mouth and Blake tried really hard to tickle Weiss off of her. "... Please tell me you weren't going to have sex before breakfast."
Blake and Weiss both stared awkwardly from their position on the floor, staring at Ruby in shock.
"... This isn't what it looks like?" Blake offered.
"... I'm pretty sure it's exactly what it looks like and we're just being stupid," Weiss deadpanned.
"... Probably. We'll be down once we… uh… is Yang in the bathroom?" Blake asked.
"... Yeah she's doin' her business," Ruby nodded, motioning towards the closed bathroom door.
"... We'll be down in a bit then."
"Okayyyy! But hurry up okay! I made breakfast burritos and sausages and breakfast sandwiches and rice and grilled mackerel and guacamole and steak bits and omelets and sunny side up eggs and chicharrones and pancakes and waffles and scones and bacon and xifan and miso soup and xiao long bao and fruit salad and-"
"Ruby, how much did you cook!? And- is that what you and Penny have been doing the last few days!?" Weiss exclaimed, trying to look like she wasn't drooling and failing miserably.
"Well, no, most of breakfast was just me n' Penny playing around in the kitchen for the last… six… ish… hours? We've actually been shopping for Wynterfest… uh… Lin…ner? Lunch dinner? Lotta stuff we had to make that took a couple days."
"... Ah. We're doing an eight hour workout once we get back to Beacon, aren't we?"
"Ten, actually! Me n' Penny made a lot and we're gonna keep making a lot til we either drop or until it's after New Years!"
Blake sighed.
"Fuck."

Two days until the christmas surprise...
I'll give you a hint: It's not just a story event. It's... a little bigger than that.
