Capítulo 5: Chapter 5- Social Hierarchy.
It had been seven weeks into the first semester of high school, and Delilah's life had become a whirlwind of emotions.
As a freshman, she was still adjusting to the new school and environment, trying to navigate the complex social hierarchy and study her surroundings.
Three weeks ago, the school announced its annual "School Beauty" and "School Flower" awards, which were chosen by the student council. The student council, led by the diligent and charismatic president, Wei Xinyi, had organized a school-wide vote to determine the winners.
Wei Xinyi, a senior and one of the top students in her class, had risen to the position of student council president through her intelligence, determination, and charisma. She was well-respected by her peers and teachers alike, and her leadership skills were evident in the way she organized school events.
Amy, with her stunning looks and charming personality, had emerged as the clear winner of the "School Beauty" title, taking the crown from her seniors. Wei Xinyi had scouted Amy for her enthusiasm and confidence, and Amy's win was seen as a testament to her keen eye for talent.
On the other hand, Delilah had been chosen as the "School Flower", not because of her popularity or outgoing personality, but because of her flawless beauty and delicate features. The student council had decided that Delilah's ethereal beauty and gentle demeanor made her the perfect candidate for the title.
Meanwhile, Amy's attitude towards Delilah had undergone a drastic, downhill transformation. Gone was the loving and caring Amy, replaced by a bossy and manipulative individual who used her newfound status to order Delilah around. Amy would often make Delilah do her homework, fetch her books, and even clean up after her. Delilah, with her weak personality, found herself unable to resist Amy's demands.
To make matters worse, Amy had formed a new group of friends, consisting of the school's most popular and influential students, and her little minions, of whom Delilah was unfortunately the lowest.
They would often bully and intimidate Delilah, making her feel like an outcast. Amy would join in on the bullying, laughing and joking with her new friends as they tormented Delilah.
Delilah was heartbroken and confused by Amy's sudden change in behavior. She didn't understand why her former friend was treating her so cruelly.
As she struggled to cope with the bullying and manipulation, Delilah found herself drawn to Fredrick, the handsome and charismatic boy who had captured her heart.
As the days went by, Delilah became increasingly obsessed with Fredrick, often finding herself lost in thought, admiring his chiseled features and charming smile.
She had tried to come up with ways to talk to him, but her fear of rejection and embarrassment had held her back. Desperate for help, Delilah turned to Amy, hoping that her former friend could provide her with some advice.
But as Delilah sought Amy's guidance, she couldn't shake off the feeling that Amy was no longer the friend she once knew.
Amy's eyes sparkled with amusement as she listened to Delilah's plea for help. "So, you want to know how to get Fredrick's attention?" Amy asked, her voice dripping with condescension.
Delilah nodded eagerly, hoping that Amy would share some valuable advice. But instead, Amy just laughed, a cold, mocking sound that sent shivers down Delilah's spine.
"You're so clueless, Delilah," Amy sneered. "Fredrick is way out of your league. But I can help you, if you do something for me."
Delilah's heart sank, sensing that Amy's help would come with a steep price. But she was desperate, and so she agreed to Amy's terms, unaware of the consequences that would follow.
As the days went by, Delilah found herself doing Amy's bidding, running errands and completing tasks that had nothing to do with getting Fredrick's attention. Amy's demands became increasingly outrageous, and Delilah began to realize that she was trapped in a toxic cycle of manipulation and control.
But Delilah couldn't escape, not yet. She was still hoping that Amy would keep her end of the bargain and help her win Fredrick's heart. Little did Delilah know, Amy had no intention of keeping her promise.
Amy's grip on Delilah tightened as the days went by. She would often summon Delilah to her table during lunch, where she would proceed to belittle and mock her in front of her new friends.
Delilah tried to endure it, hoping that Amy would eventually keep her promise and help her win Fredrick's heart.
But as the weeks turned into months, Delilah began to lose hope. Amy seemed more interested in tormenting her than in helping her. And Fredrick, well, he seemed oblivious to Delilah's existence.
One day, as Delilah was walking down the hallway, she stumbled upon Victoria, the student council president. Wei Xinyi was standing by her locker, a look of intense focus on her face as she scrolled through her phone.
