Capítulo 409: The dragon slayer eventually becomes the dragon!

With Robin's guidance, Nicholas quickly arrived at the accommodation arranged by Dr. Clover. It was clear that this place had been prepared hastily, but it was fully equipped with all the necessary daily items, including a kitchen stocked with fresh ingredients.

Knowing that Nicholas wasn't good at cooking, Robin stepped into the kitchen and quickly whipped up a few simple dishes. Having grown up reliant on others, she was remarkably considerate and adept for her age. In less than half an hour, she had three dishes and a soup ready on the table.

After the meal, the two chatted. Robin, finally able to release her long-suppressed emotions thanks to her mother's return, even talked to Nicholas about her uncle's family.

"Uncle is nice, but he's really afraid of Aunt Roji. I sometimes think that if Dr. Clover didn't give her the allowance my mom sends every month, she would have kicked me out long ago..."

It was evident that Aunt Roji was quite a harsh person in Robin's eyes. Normally, Robin wouldn't dare to speak ill of her, as her uncle's house was the only place she could stay in Ohara. But now things had changed—her mother had returned.

Young Robin was thrilled. She didn't understand the complexities of adult life but knew that starting today, she was just like the other kids in town. She had a mom now, someone who would buy her a cake for her birthday and celebrate with her. She no longer had to envy her cousins for their new clothes while she had none.

That evening, Olvia came to take Robin away.

"Goodnight, Mr. Nicholas. See you tomorrow," Robin said with a smile as she bid Nicholas farewell. She tightly held Olvia's hand, afraid her mother might disappear again.

Late at night, a figure appeared outside Nicholas's accommodation. After hesitating for a while, he finally knocked gently on the door.

"Come in, Dr. Clover," Nicholas's voice came from inside.

Dr. Clover entered. "I thought you might come over in a few days. Want something to drink?" Nicholas asked.

"Just plain water, please."

Sitting on the sofa, Dr. Clover was no longer his usual composed self. He knew all too well the terrifying consequences a Buster Call from the World Government would have on Ohara.

"Mr. Nicholas, are you sure the World Government will initiate a Buster Call against us? Is there no room for negotiation?" Dr. Clover asked, his voice heavy with concern.

"The intelligence about the Buster Call came from the Revolutionary Army. Olvia should have also told you why Saul defected from the Marines," Nicholas replied. "As for negotiation, do you really think the World Government would allow anything that could undermine their authority, as revealed in the Poneglyphs, to continue to exist?"

Nicholas was certain the World Government would launch a Buster Call against Ohara. He glanced towards the enormous Tree of Knowledge, knowing that beneath it lay a library housing a Poneglyph. This Poneglyph held significant information, including details that led Ohara's scholars to deduce the existence of a great kingdom predating the World Government.

"But history is the wealth of all humanity. The desire to understand our past is a right no one should be able to deny," Dr. Clover said, clearly frustrated. He couldn't understand why the World Government wanted to eradicate them when all they wanted was to bring forgotten history back to light.

"According to the World Government, just by reading the Poneglyphs, there is a potential to resurrect ancient weapons, posing a threat to the world. Even if you have no malicious intent, there are always ambitious individuals who might use this knowledge to disrupt world stability, right?" Nicholas said. Dr. Clover nodded somewhat confusedly; this was indeed the warning the World Government had given some scholars. While some abandoned their research on the Poneglyphs due to this, others, like the scholars of Ohara, only became more intrigued.

"But no matter what history reveals, it was all created by people. It should be accepted in its entirety. If we courageously accept it, we can deal with whatever comes our way! The reason the World Government fears the interpretation of the Poneglyphs is probably because their content poses a significant threat to their rule."

Dr. Clover had been speculating, but after talking with Nicholas, he was certain that the history the World Government wanted to hide would indeed devastate their rule if revealed.

"You're quite the smart one, but unfortunately, your fists aren't big enough. The World Government is well aware of the power of the ancient weapons, but in reality, the connection between these weapons and the Poneglyphs isn't that significant. The Poneglyphs merely guide people to the existence of these ancient weapons. I've already roughly secured two of the three ancient weapons, Poseidon and Pluton. As for Uranus, if my guess is correct, it's in Roger's hands."

"What!?" Dr. Clover was stunned by Nicholas's casual revelation. They were just studying the Poneglyphs and didn't even know what the ancient weapons truly were, yet the World Government wanted to annihilate them. Meanwhile, Nicholas had almost gathered all the ancient weapons, and the World Government hadn't made a move.

"Actually, the ancient weapons aren't as terrifying as they're made out to be. They can certainly change the world to some extent, but thinking they can overthrow the World Government and the Celestial Dragons is a delusion. I even suspect that the idea of controlling the world by mastering the ancient weapons is a bait set by the World Government."

Nicholas chuckled, recalling a certain someone who had been pretending to be a hero for over a decade, searching for the ancient weapons. He could bet that if anyone wielded any of the three ancient weapons and tried to challenge the World Government, the World Government would simply laugh and take the weapon from them, proving their dominance once again.

"However, isn't the existence of the Poneglyphs meant to tell future generations about the powerful enemies that destroyed the Great Kingdom, and to preserve their thoughts and true history for the future?" Dr. Clover argued.

"And do you think the upper echelons of the Great Kingdom were any different from the Celestial Dragons?" Nicholas asked with a smile.

Dr. Clover was taken aback by this question.

"Dr. Clover, there's a saying I admire: 'The only lesson humanity learns from history is that humanity learns nothing from history.' The dragon slayer eventually becomes the dragon. How do you know that the ancestors of the World Government and the Celestial Dragons didn't destroy the Great Kingdom to liberate the seas?"

Nicholas continued, and Dr. Clover fell into deep thought.

"Hahaha!" Nicholas laughed, watching Dr. Clover ponder.
