Meanwhile…

Silence filled the car as neither Fil nor Vincent talked. Elise, who was in the backseat, pursed her lips. Elise darted her eyes between the driver's seat and the front passenger seat. 

'Did they fight?' she wondered, unaware of what happened back in the bar station. She was too busy chatting with Shanaiah before Fil approached her. Although Fil told her she could stay longer if she wanted to, Elise didn't want to stay without Fil at the party. 

"That's the place." Fil's voice slashed through the thick air in the car, pointing at the residential house on the next block. 

Vincent said nothing, driving slowly, and pulling over in front of the gated small two-story house. When the car stopped, Fil looked back at Elise with a smile. 

"Did you have fun tonight?" asked Fil, and earned a big nod from Elise.
