Capítulo 29: 29. Alexandra is Missing
Where am I? Aargh! My head..it hurts. Alexandra pounded her head with her fist, trying to alleviate the internal pain she's having.
She opened her eyes and saw that she's in a room. The house seemed to be made of wood, it looked like a cabin. She went to the window and opened it. There were bars place in front of the window, preventing anyone from entering or going out that way. Outside, all she could see were trees and a big lake at a distance. The sun was beginning to set. She had slept almost the whole day due to the drug. She was puzzled, who brought her here? She had never been to this place before.
She tried to open the room door but it was locked. She began to feel panic and recounted her earlier experience. She was blocked by a SUV and someone obviously drugged her. She was definitely kidnapped but why isn't she bound? Isn't that what kidnappers usually do? Most importantly, why did they kidnap her?
Alexandra tried to remain calm. She needed to know who was behind this before she could think of her next move. Alexandra waited for a long time before she finally heard the door being unlock. When she saw who it was, she was shocked.
"Dr Gerald? Why did you bring me here like this?" Alexandra asked, feeling confused.
Dr Gerald didn't say anything. He walked over to the table in the room and placed the tray that he was holding on the table.
"Eat." He looked at Alexandra and uttered that single word, nothing more.
"Dr Gerald?" Alexandra tried again.
"I said, eat. I will speak to you after you eat." Dr Gerald said menacingly.
Suddenly fear crept into Alexandra and cold sweat began drenching her body. 'Oh my God, has he gone psycho?'
Dr Gerald watched while Alexandra at her dinner. No words were spoken until she had finished eating.
Dr Gerald beckoned her to seat on the bed. She slowly walked and sat down as instructed. For one, she truly did not wish to anger this unpredictable man in front of her.
"I've loved you for so long. Did you know that?" Dr Gerald stood in front of her and held her chin.
Alexandra was shocked. Never would she ever imagine that Dr Gerald would be in love with her. She quickly shook her head.
"Yes, ever since I first saw you. Then you went and got engaged with that bastard Zachary Croft." Dr Gerald moved away and laughed hysterically.
"Do you know how happy I was that your engagement got cancelled? I thought I had a chance then. You even promised that I'll be next in line!" Dr Gerald's gaze turned angry and he looked terrifying.
He suddenly pounced on Alexandra and pinned her to the bed.
Alexandra struggled to get away but Dr Gerald was stronger than her. She began to cry and felt extremely distressed. Why did things turn out like this?
Seeing her suddenly cried, Dr Gerald let her go.
"Alexandra, please don't cry. I don't want to see you cry." He held her hands and wiped her falling tears. Alexandra instantly moved her body further back to avoid his touch. Her rejection caused Dr Gerald to hold her face and forced her to look at him. He stared at her tear-stained face and in a swift motion, he tried to kiss her. Alexandra felt a sudden surge of anger and raised her hand to slap Dr Gerald. Dr Gerald stumbled backward and looked dazed.
"Get out, get out!!" Alexandra shouted at the top of her lungs, unable to bear anymore physical assault by this mad man.
Dr Gerald was taken aback by her shout and walked away dejectedly. However, before he left the room, he said quietly, "You're mine, no one can take you away from me."
After he left, Alexandra sat down on the floor and cried her eyes out. She didn't know if her father and Benjamin were already alerted of her disappearance. If they did, would they be able to find her before this psycho did anything to her? Alexandra didn't sleep a wink that night for fear Dr Gerald might come back and do something to her.
Meanwhile, Alexandra's car which was found parked and unattended by the roadside, was reported to the police by one of her neighbours. The police ran the number plate and found it registered to Alexandra Zane. They immediately went to the Zane Manor and met with Sir Dominic Zane, who coincidentally was home that day as he wasn't feeling too well. When he heard that his daughter's car was found stranded by the roadside with no signs of her, he felt his chest hurts so much that he instantly collapsed to the ground. An ambulance was called and Sir Dominic was quickly brought to the hospital for treatment. The Zane Manor was suddenly thrown into chaos and the servants mourned for both their Master and missing Mistress.
Mr Wen, the estate manager, was contacted by the butler and was informed of the whole incident. He rushed to the hospital and waited outside the surgery room anxiously. He had also contacted the police with regard to his young miss and was in constant communication with them. Mr Wen had never felt to panicky and distressed during his long years of working with the Zanes. He prayed that nothing bad would happen to both the father and daughter.
The door to the operation room suddenly opened and the doctors and nurses came out, with Sir Dominic Zane still unconscious on the hospital bed. Luckily, Sir Dominic was sent to the hospital on time and he had passed the danger zone. After find out that his Master was going to be fine, Mr Wen stayed by the older man's side and didn't move, only constantly checking his phone for police updates.
The lead investigator and his team had also arrived at the National hospital to conduct their investigation since Dr Zane was employed there. The doctors and nurses were alarmed by the presence of the police. After they knew the truth, they panicked and anxiety was apparent on their faces, fear for the safety of their beloved co-worker.
Suddenly one of the nurses exclaimed, "Her boyfriend! Maybe she's with him!"
Inspector Xi looked up form his notebook and asked, "Dr Zane has a boyfriend?"
"Yes, yes! He came to the hospital before to pick her up. We all saw them together." The nurse replied quickly.
"Do you know the identity of her boyfriend?" Inspector Xi interrogated the nurse who first spoke to him.
"Yes, he looked like Prince Benjamin Wright, from the Royal Family of Northernlands!" The nurse hurriedly provided the information.
Inspector Xi was taken aback. "What? Are you sure?"
"Yes, we all saw him. They looked happy together, and he even mentioned of her meeting with his parents!" Some of the doctors and nurses chimed in.
Inspector Xi turned to his subordinates and instructed, "Get me the contact details of the Prince and find out where he is right now." His subordinate nodded and quickly went to do as instructed.
Benjamin was still in a daze when he woke up after having such a bad night. He dragged himself out of the bed and took a cold shower to refresh himself. He wanted to see Alexandra as soon as he could, something weird was nagging him and he would only feel assured after he sees her. Suddenly as he was dressing up, Uncle Tim banged on his room door with such a force that made him think a tornado is coming.
"Your Highness!! Your Highness!!"
Benjamin opened the room door, with an annoyed face. His headache had not really went away, and here this old man was making it worse. "Uncle Tim..."
"Ms Zane is missing!!" Uncle Tim blurted out the piece of information he just received from the police.
"WHAT??!!" Benjamin shouted, his legs immediately went limp. Butler Tim went forward to help him up.
"Sir Dominic Zane suffered a heart attack after learning the news and he's at the hospital at the moment. You're the closest to Ms Zane so you are needed at the police station!" Butler Tim quickly relayed all the important information in a concise manner so not to waste anymore time.
Looking at his current condition, Butler Tim instructed the driver to bring the Prince to the police station. When he reached the station, Inspector Xi was already waiting for him.
