32.5% Helper Of The Goddess / Chapter 13: The Devil's Greed

Capítulo 13: The Devil's Greed

Xavier choked, almost spitting out all the food in his mouth. His reflexes were so fast that he took a drink and swallowed both at the same time. His breathing had stopped and his chest felt like it was going to explode. His face suddenly turned pale as he glanced sharply at Cytherea.

"Aren't there any important questions you can ask? I will tell you this once in a lifetime. Never disturb me while I am eating, unless I initiate the conversation. Do you understand, Foolish Goddess?"

"Fool?! I'm also warning you not to insult my nickname, bast*rd."

"We're even. Now let me finish my food and then answer another question." Xavier quickly finished off tonight's stock of food.

Meanwhile, Cytherea seemed to enjoy her food like a human, or rather a woman in general. She even smiled excitedly when she found something that was her favourite. She chewed slowly and tried to avoid the food falling onto her clothes.

Xavier tried not to observe her but after making sure there was no danger around them, there was nothing else he could think of to do but wait for the goddess to clean up the leftovers.

"Shall we begin? I'm sure there must be other weighty questions." Xavier preceded.

"Indeed there are. But what about the previous question?"

Xavier let out a long breath. "Tell me why you're thinking about that now? Weren't you very hasty in taking me out of the village to follow your ego?"

"Hey, you're too stiff. Think of it as entertainment after 500 years of unrequited effort on my part. Do you want to pressure a goddess mentally to keep thinking about something serious?"

Xavier sighed, exasperated at how her stubbornness circulated through the cold night. "I just don't want to discuss that right now. How about you guess whether or not I have any experience in the world of sex?"

Cytherea gave a disgusted look. "I didn't mention anything perverted. Looks like you're planning to stop this conversation, huh?"

Xavier clasped both hands tightly, the first attempt successful. "Then it's my turn to ask. How do you view the Demon Lord and his followers?"

"That's obvious, right? They are bastards and deceitful. There is no being with a higher level of evil than the Demon Lord. Their lust for world domination is so strong that the gods can't handle it for now."

"For now? But they have ruled Heaven for 500 years. I think they would rule the world if all the gods were so calm like you."

"Damn it, you're bringing that up again. No one knows where the other gods are. Even I haven't seen my friends and brothers in a long time."

"That's heartbreaking. But did you ever think one of them died in search of reinforcements?"

"Don't make me panic, you fool! Gods never die unless it is killed. You must think one of the gods died from being killed, right? Sorry to call you a moron even though it's a fact, but gods don't die as easily as ordinary people think."

"Alright, alright. I withdraw my question. Now explain to me about them. Perhaps Demons are the natural enemies of Gods. But they actually know each other."

Cytherea clucked, finding it hard to accept his statement. "Tch. As annoying as it sounds, you have a point."

From the viewpoint of both gods and humans, Demons have a tremendous, fierce, and cruel impression. In general, all creatures always hate bad and harmful qualities until they forget the stupidity of themselves. Without exception the Demons have no revenge and hatred of anything but they are born to destroy and kill.

They will continue to torture and kill anyone in front of them without exception. In the midst of it, they acted violently and laughed and regarded it as a sacrifice to the Demon Lord.

Either human or gods have their own stories and assume their actions originate from hatred of something but until now no one has been able to prove it.

The Demon Lord, Azazil, became the strongest reason for the rebellion 500 years ago. Few gods have ever seen him because Minister Azazil never let the Demon Lord face a god full of deceit.

It will be a long history as they all enter the dreaded "Demon Era" and will never be ready for war.

It is unknown why Azazil is so interested in ruling the world while many races in this world live in the same area without bringing down a people.

Even Cytherea and the other gods tried to meet the Demon Lord in private even though in the end every god who managed to meet Azazil would not return to Heaven.

"I didn't expect the Demon Lord and his army to be able to keep the Gods at bay."

"Same. We never even nudged any Demons, unless they started the ruckus. No god is afraid of Demons and neither are they. It's just that they often win every battle between Demons and Gods."

"That's bad news. I've heard of the existence of Gods to eradicate ugliness. But if they're incapable then who will overcome the Demon Lord's invasion?"

"I don't know. Even though we are incapable now, we will never give up on finding a solution to wipe out the Demon Lord's greed. We know many humans surrender their lives to the gods they believe in but if only they knew how frustrating gods can be despite their elegant and authoritative appearance."

"Well. From the way you explained, I understood that you were confused and wanted to return to Heaven immediately. So, you're forced to ask for help from humans, the very creatures you're supposed to protect?"

Cytherea paused for a moment. Now her voice was stammering, almost shedding tears of despair.

"Perhaps you are right. Let's just say that the current state of gods belongs to the races of this world. You understand what one race does to another, right?"

Xavier raised his head. "Helping someone in need? Or a civil war? Sometimes human thinking is irrelevant to the good."

"All humans will bow to the gods when..." Cytherea stopped instantly. Even the human in front of her had never lowered her head before her. Instead, Xavier regarded the goddess as a liar who believed everyone she met to be a goddess.

"Why did you stop?" Xavier was impatient.

"I didn't. I thought this trip would be full of pointless disputes."
