That morning would turn out to be nothing but the worst for Caesar—the one morning where he would completely lose his mind.
Caesar had woken up a few hours later, and even though he didn't find Adeline next to him on the bed, he wasn't exactly worried. He could still smell her scent, though it was a bit faint.
She was probably in her room.
Walking out of the bathroom, Caesar rolled his dried hair into a quick man bun and left the bedroom to make his way over to Adeline's room. He knocked on the door and waited, but no response came.
This caused a frown of confusion on his face.
"Adeline," he called.
But no response came.
At this point, his thought wasn't even that she was gone. He rather thought something bad had happened to her, prompting him to open the door and walk into the room.
His body stilled at the first glimpse of the room, and every emotion on his face vanished.
