Capítulo 167: Chapter 167: Thor's Despair, The World Mourns!

Receiving impression points from the cosmic will, Clark was granted a 'Random BGM Lottery Card.' "I thought I missed it?"

As he landed gently at the edge of the crater, Clark couldn't help but show a playful smile.

His interest in the 'Random BGM Lottery Card' wasn't as strong as before. Although having an extra BGM wasn't bad, the randomness of the outcomes meant it was more of a minor surprise rather than something to rely on for anything impactful.

It's like buying a lottery ticket; buying one teaches you hope, but betting everything teaches you despair. Compared to that, awakening a BGM on your own seemed more effective.

"Mr. Clark, from what you're saying, do you have some new gains?"

The newcomers were Coulson and Hawkeye, the latter not seen for a long time. Now, Hawkeye's appearance was different, carrying not only his bow and arrows but also a katana, the relic of a gambler who had foolishly died.

After nodding slightly to Coulson, Clark's gaze fell on Hawkeye: "Long time no see, Clint."

Hawkeye forced a strained smile: "Bet you didn't expect me to join S.H.I.E.L.D., huh?"

"I just didn't expect you to add swordsmanship on top of archery," Clark teased. "Which are you better at now, archery or swordsmanship?"

Hawkeye's response surprised Clark: "Swordsmanship. After practicing the secret manual you translated, I can now infuse qi into the blade, significantly increasing its power. Even if I faced that gambler again, I'm confident I could take him on alone."

"Then I'll have to witness it myself sometime."

After some small talk, Coulson revealed the purpose of their visit: "Given the origin of this hammer, S.H.I.E.L.D. hopes to take over this site. We're even willing to pay for it, but only for the land, not for your destroyed villa."

"That's perfect; I was wondering what to do with this land," Clark said readily. "I'll take the hammer, and we can proceed with the transaction."

Receiving impression points +666 from Phil Coulson!

"Director Fury instructed that if you take the hammer, we're no longer buying the land."

"That's a pity."

If it weren't for Odin's favor to look after Thor, Clark wouldn't mind selling the land along with the hammer to S.H.I.E.L.D.

After all, the hammer was destined to have no relation with him; better to sell it and recoup some losses.

But since Odin asked him to care for Thor, Clark felt it was more convenient to keep the hammer with him. According to U.S. law, the land he bought was his forever, whether he found gold underground or a hammer fell from the sky, it was his private property, unrelated to the government.

This law might not apply to S.H.I.E.L.D., but when the property belongs to Clark, it suddenly becomes applicable.

The weather at the seaside is fickle.

As they spoke, the clear sky filled with clouds, and with a gust of humid sea breeze, Hawkeye frowned: "Looks like rain."

Coulson was about to invite Clark to take shelter in the car when Clark looked toward the center of the crater, where Thor's hammer lay, with a playful smile.

As the weather changed, the crowd trying to lift the hammer had dispersed to avoid the rain, except for a blonde, muscular man who pushed through to the hammer's side.

"Who is he?" Coulson asked upon seeing the man.

"Thor, the God of Thunder."

As Hawkeye and Coulson were shocked by the identity, Thor grasped the hammer handle, trying to lift it without success, unable to move the hammer that was once attuned to him.

"Crack!"

Rain fell, splattering on the hammer and quickly covering the world in a curtain of rain.

Coulson fetched umbrellas for himself and Hawkeye. Trying to share with Clark, they found him surrounded by an energy shield that repelled all raindrops.

Ignoring the agents' astonishment, Clark watched Thor struggle with lifting the hammer.

Realizing the harsh truth, Thor, now stripped of his divine power, couldn't lift the hammer anymore.

Seeing Thor's despair, Clark couldn't help but feel pity, so he snapped his fingers, and melancholic background music played, adding to the atmosphere without using any special effects.

"Snowflakes flutter, north wind howls, the world, a vast expanse..."

"Is this man really Thor?" Coulson asked, hinting at disbelief that a god couldn't lift his weapon.

Compared to accepting this, they might find it easier to believe Clark was Thor reincarnated.

Clark calmly explained, "Odin has sealed his divine power. Now, he's just a strong mortal."

Coulson hesitated before asking if they should detain Thor.

"No," Clark replied. "He's not an enemy of Earth. In fact, Odin once defended Earth against the Frost Giants. We shouldn't sour our friendly relations. I'll handle this."

Agreeing with Clark's approach, Coulson knew S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't too concerned about the hammer, especially compared to the Cosmic Cube.

If Fury could leave the Cosmic Cube with Clark, the hammer was of even less concern.

Clark, knowing far more than they did, was undoubtedly the best choice for handling this situation.

"Um..." As Clark was about to greet Thor, Coulson hesitated, then finally mustered the courage to ask to meet Captain America.

Relieved, Clark arranged a meeting, curious about Hawkeye's swordsmanship.

Then, Clark flew towards Thor, engulfed in self-pity, as the rain started to lighten, as if it had poured just for Thor.

Feeling Clark's approach, Thor remained silent, his spirit crushed.

Clark tried to offer some comfort, hinting that Odin hadn't completely abandoned him by leaving him with the hammer on Earth.

Opening a portal to his Los Angeles villa, Clark invited Thor to follow if he wished to understand why he couldn't lift the hammer, leaving the invitation open for a heartfelt discussion.
