Lucien trudged back to Lithira's domain, exhaustion etched across his face. His mind churned with frustration; he wanted to go to the location his father had discovered. 

Abattre needed to be dealt with, and Lucien was eager to put an end to the chaos that had upended his life.

But he dreaded disappointing Lithira. She would understand, she always did—she'd likely even offer to help him fight Abattre. But how many times had he already let her down?

'Her heat will be over in two days when I'm gone,' he thought with a sigh. 'I don't have a choice.' His feet felt like lead as he entered the domain, weighed down by guilt and exhaustion.

As he approached, Brigantiea stood by the door, her face lighting up when she saw him. 

For a moment, she seemed pleased that he had kept his promise, but her expression quickly darkened as she noticed the look on his face.
