I signed the contract with a resigned sigh, the weight of my decision settling in. As I sat back in the glass cubicle, I could hear conversations buzzing outside. The voices were loud and clear, carrying snippets of gossip and speculation.

"Isn't she the one who wants to be like Aurora?" one person whispered.

"I heard she's trying to make a comeback after her mom's career tanked," another added.

Jules, noticing my discomfort, leaned over and offered, "Earbuds?"

I shook my head with a small smile. "I'm no longer in high school. I can handle some jabbing."

I relaxed in the chair, though my head still throbbed slightly from the earlier fall. The receptionist had told me to wait, mentioning that Nyssa was around. Just as I was starting to wonder how much longer it would be, the door opened, and in walked Nyssa.
