Mr. Welber was bewildered, but York was not. He looked at the middle-aged woman named Prima on the bed, recalling past days in his mind.
When the system cheat just arrived, this demon appeared within his jurisdiction and was difficult to exorcise, completing his first random task.
In fact, the first points he earned in the system were largely thanks to this demon, which he had exorcised nearly a dozen times.
Importantly, there was a fifty percent chance of triggering a random task each time this demon appeared.
Most crucially, every time this demon appeared, it was within his jurisdiction.
As the saying goes, familiarity breeds fondness. After more than a dozen encounters, he had become familiar with the demon's evil power, and it, with his scent and appearance.
Sensing the demon's frustration, York's face showed a rare smile.
"Sorry about that, but thankfully to you, I've earned quite a bit…"
York was about to mention the points when he suddenly realized it was not appropriate and stopped himself in time.
"Well, you know, for this, I am quite grateful to you."
The demon inside Prima seemed to recall past events too. Her face twisted in rage as she glared at York, filled with fury.
"Damn bug!"
In this angry voice, a massive surge of dark energy rapidly gathered and violently rushed towards York.
The mere backlash blew York's hair and robe, also pushing Mr. Welber, who was at the door, off balance. The room shook like an earthquake, with items falling everywhere.
"Buddy, you should know, this won't work on me."
York's smile remained, even more radiant as he faced the huge wave of dark energy, whispering softly, "Protego (Shield)."
The spell he had just learned was finally put to use.
[Two points of magic used]
[...]
Two huge white shields, visible only to York and the demon, instantly enveloped the shocked Mr. Welber and York, who remained seated, blocking the enormous wave of energy.
On one side were two immovable circles, and on the other, a wave of dark energy. They clashed and held each other in place.
A second later, a slight collision sound rang out, and both sides dispersed, with tiny energy fragments scattering in the air.
As Mr. Welber looked on dumbfounded, York waved his hand as if dispersing dust, looking at Prima's fierce face and her eyes filled with extreme anger, and said calmly,
"So… how about you go back willingly? You've given me so much… um,
What I mean to say is, we're friends, and I really don't want to hurt you.
You don't want to be injected by me again, right?"
His tone was very relaxed. To an outsider, it might seem friendly, but for the demon that struggled so hard to climb out of hell and possess Prima, it was different.
From these words, especially about the injection, it recalled only scenes from its memory.
A dozen times.
This damn priest went from struggling initially to easily sending it back to hell.
From starting with sweating, holding a cross and the Bible, to a strange smile, holding weird things...
Thinking of this, Prima's face became even more twisted, her waist contorting, her movements twisted but filled with a sense of tragic fury.
It had too little power to use, only at the first phase of fusion, with less than a third of its original strength.
Staring at York, Prima's grey eyes showed a reluctant human look. As a demon, it should have been tormenting humans, but now the tables were turned.
"Damn it!"
As this feeling of rage peaked, the dark energy in the room became more intense.
"You will fall into hell one day! Then I will…"
It roared, but York interrupted it the next second.
"You're wrong. As a spokesperson for the Lord, I will return to His embrace."
This statement, combined with York's serious expression, infuriated the demon even more.
"Aaaahhh!!"
Prima became even more frenzied, rolling and struggling, even shifting the bed slightly.
Meanwhile, the room's contents were tossed around by the unseen dark energy, furniture trembling and slightly moving.
The whole scene was chaotic.
If you ignore the surging dark energy, it all looked like a typical demonic possession from movies.
York remained calm, his eyes filled with nostalgia.
Mr. Welber, who had just recovered, was completely unaware of the reasons, feeling the entire room trembling.
He clung to the doorknob, maintaining his stance, and looked at the priest sitting on the chair, seeking a semblance of safety.
Sensing the old man's gaze behind him, York looked at the frenzied victim Prima and said helplessly,
"Honestly, I really don't want to hurt you."
Saying this, to restore calm to the room and considerate of the old man, York simply dispersed the dark energy in the room.
"Repello (Expulsion)."
A spell meant to push away or keep something at bay, with York's will, rippled out like water waves from him, sweeping across all physical objects.
[Six points of magic used]
[Magic Power: 152/164]
The use of six points of magic resulted in the previously trembling room becoming instantly calm as if caressed by a gentle breeze.
Complete silence.
Mr. Welber glanced at the priest sitting there and breathed a sigh of relief.
Even so, the demon inside Prima seemed very unwilling, still howling and struggling, the tight ropes restraining her limbs.
"It seems you really don't give up, buddy. Then I must give you this injection, at least to deepen your memory…"
York said, unzipping the backpack with one hand, revealing its contents.
Most noticeable were a shotgun and a revolver, two boxes of shells, and an ammunition belt.
Additionally, an old Bible, five crosses, two large bottles of holy water.
And finally, something resembling a firearm injector and some sealed needles.
Beside the needles, neatly arranged bottles and jars with labels.
These were all the things York regularly carried, a complete set for exorcism.
"Damn! You deserve to die!"
Upon seeing the needles, Prima's face twisted even more, her movements becoming more violent. But with fusion only in the first phase, it could only watch as York picked up the injector and began assembling it.
"Heh, buddy, have you remembered everything now?"
