Iris was still trembling, barely managing a nod. The thought of being alone terrified her, and Daniel's presence seemed to be the only source of comfort she could find.
But, she still felt an overwhelming sense of loneliness and vulnerability.
Right that night, Daniel moved into the suite next door, and even the long-sealed secret door between their two suites was made accessible. If Iris wished, she could open the secret door at any time to reach Daniel's room.
"If you need anything, just call me out," Daniel stood at the doorway of the secret passage, his eyes filled with concern. Then he swallowed hard before adding, "You can also just come over to my room, but I won't come over unless you want me to. Don't worry."
Iris nodded, "Thank you for your kindness, Daniel," she said before turning to close the door.
