Capítulo 882: Chapter 600: Killing the Eagle with a Borrowed Knife (Part 1) _1

Clark stared at the medal in shock, saying, "This is from the Soviet Union... My God! They're Soviet spies!"

He rubbed the medal with his finger and held it up closely to inspect it, saying, "That's right, I saw this symbol on TV. My dad told me about this country on the other side... what kind of ideology do they call it?"

"I remember, my mom and dad even had a fight over this because my dad didn't believe in the propaganda from the US Government. He thought the country on the other side wasn't that bad. My mom accused him of pandering..."

Clark seemed to be lost in his memories, clearly, during his upbringing, he frequently heard the name of that distant country. Then, he looked down at the two people lying on the ground and said: "But, why would they want to spy on me? Surely, they aren't trying to make me destroy America?"

Bat Cat leapt onto the table opposite Clark, saying: "So you're convinced? They're truly spies from the country represented by the medal in your hand?"

"Uh, what else could it be?" Clark was taken aback by his question.

"When you're up to no good, would you write your name on your face?" Bat Cat asked, somewhat exasperated.

"I've never done anything bad." Clark shook his head very seriously. Bat Cat covered his eyes with his paw, saying: "If they really were spies from a certain country, why would they bring their identification with them during a mission? Is it just so you know who they are when you defeat them?"

Only then did Clark understand, he said," Right, why would spies carry identification on them? They would want nobody to know who they are, right?"

Clark wasn't stupid, he simply hadn't experienced such things. After all, his previous life was far less dramatic.

Before attending college, he maintained a very regular routine, waking up at sunrise and going to sleep at sunset, working on the farm, watching TV, or chatting with his family; he was a typical small-town youth.

Ever since he got involved in the mysteries of Metropolis, experiencing a series of strange and bizarre events at the Mayor's Manor, his tranquil life was disrupted. Now, returning to his former peaceful and simple life was impossible since he already knew that someone was watching him.

For his own sake, especially for the safety of his family, Clark had to fight. He concentrated hard, contemplating, and asked Bat Cat, "If they're not from the KGB, then who are they? And why would they carry a Soviet medal?"

At this point, Pikachu jumped down from the sofa and onto the table where Bat Cat was, standing shoulder to shoulder with him.

He put on his detective thinking cap and said: "Let's look at things from their perspective. From their surveillance of you, they realized that you might just be a very naive college student, even more innocent than the average Metropolis citizen."

Clark nodded, not feeling embarrassed to admit it. He said, "When I first came to Metropolis, many people called me a country bumpkin. But I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of. My parents raised me with the money they earned from their hard work. Isn't everyone like that? Haven't I assimilated well?"

"Indeed, their intel might be outdated and they do not know that you might have changed, especially that they did not know the cat you brought home today could talk, and even reason." Pikachu produced a pipe from somewhere and put it in his mouth, and then went on:

"If you were still as innocent as before, how would you react the moment you saw this medal?"

"I was quite angry." Clark frowned. He moved his legs away from the two people lying there, saying, "No matter who they are, they can't just barge into my house. That's illegal!"

"So what if I have special abilities? Did I use them for committing crimes? I'm clearly using these abilities to do good, yet they want to exploit me." Clark, looking unusually serious, clearly disapproved of these people's actions.

Superman wasn't a complete pushover. In many situations, his will to stick to his principles was no less than Batman's, and he would get angry when his territory was violated.

"Exactly, if you were still naive and impulsive as before and hadn't been through this kind of event, you probably would have confronted the country represented by the medal the second you saw this identification, out of anger, at least. You might have also tried to locate their base in Metropolis and demand an explanation."

Clark thought for a moment and slowly nodded in agreement, saying; "If it weren't for you two, I might have done just that. After all, thinking they were spies and then them breaking into my dorm, I could suspect they might threaten my parents. I'd surely confront them."

"Exactly, that's their aim."

"For a small-town boy who hasn't been in the city long, such tricks would work. You're not Batman, who thinks at least ten times before doing something..."

"A hundred times," Bat Cat grumbled.
