With a "thwack" sound, the gun in Lex's hand was knocked out, with the tip of an umbrella pressed against his brow. He staggered back, raising his hands to face Shiller, who made the move.
After a somersault, Selina caught the pistol that Shiller had knocked out of Lex's hand. She raised the pistol, but for a moment, she didn't know who to aim at.
Selina was definitely on Bruce's side, but Shiller had previously clashed with Bruce. So by all rights, she should aim the gun at Shiller.
But Shiller was also a Gothamite, and Bruce's teacher at that. They had merely argued, not fought hand-to-hand, but Lex had shot at Bruce. As a result, she shifted her aim to Lex,
However, the unarmed Lex was a mere weakling. In terms of threat, Shiller was the bigger one. Selina hesitated for a while, waving the gun this way and that, until Bruce stepped forward and pulled her arm down.
Now, everyone on the scene seemed a little confused. In their eyes, Lex's actions were utterly illogical. He was a Metropolis man, with no hand in Gotham's tangled loves and hates. Even though he had met Bruce before, he had no quarrel with him. Why on earth would he shoot?
Plus, his previous move against Benjamin made him look like a madman liable to attack anyone. Lex was just about to say something when Shiller extended his umbrella a little, squinting as he said, "Step back."
He was high on guard against Lex, because he knew full well that in the comics, Lex was highly intelligent, one of the smartest people in the whole DC world. This kind of man was the hardest to deal with because you never knew whether there was some deeper meaning behind his every move.
"Professor, I…"
"Shut up." Shiller cut him off in no uncertain terms. The best way to deal with this kind of intelligent person was not to see, hear, or feel, and not to give him any opportunity to bewitch people's minds.
At this moment, Bruce also stepped forward saying, "Professor Shiller, I just want to ask…"
"You too." Shiller didn't move his hand, simply turned his head to look at Bruce.
Having said that, he slowly lowered his umbrella then turned around. Just before leaving, he glanced back at Benjamin who was still not dead and at Lionel who was thoroughly dead. As he was heading towards the door, he said,
"Please clean this mess up. I want to go back to sleep."
Having said that, he left, leaving Lex and Bruce to look at each other. Lex sighed deeply, "Well, it seems he really has lost his memory."
Bruce gathered a lot of unspoken emotions from his words. He looked at Lex and asked, "How do you know?"
"Why should I tell you?"
Clearly, Lex was discontented with Bruce. Swearing under his breath, he walked over to Lionel's body and, with some effort, dragged him by the arm to the bathroom.
When he came out of the bathroom, he said, "Drag that annoying agent here as well. I'm going to find some tools from the warehouse downstairs."
"What are you going to do?" Bruce asked as he watched his movements.
"I am going to dispose this mess, or would you rather leave the two bodies here all night until they are discovered by other agents?"
As Lex walked towards the door, he muttered, "The sewage system of this old mansion must be terrible, dealing with two bodies at once might clog it…"
However, Bruce didn't drag Benjamin away. Instead, he flipped him over and began pressing on his 'Ren Zhong' acupoint. Seeing his actions, Lex hurried over and asked, "What are you doing? What if he wakes up?"
"That's exactly what I want." Bruce retorted without lifting his head. He said, "I need to extract useful information from him. And besides, he's the head of the operation investigating the spy case in Metropolis, he cannot die."
Lex stood behind him, watching his actions, and shrugged his hands, "Alright, suit yourself."
With that, he turned to leave. Bruce continued his work, but added, "I'm sorry, Mr. Luthor, but you can't leave either. Before I get the information I need, you'd better stay here."
Lex was not interested in listening to him. He didn't stop walking, but quickly heard the click of an empty gun trigger being pulled. Selina pointed the gun at the back of his head, Lex turned around and sneered disdainfully.
"Do you know? Talking one more word to you gun-toting idiots is a waste of my life."
"Wayne, the Wayne Enterprises you own is simply an inheritance from your parents, and the entire Luther Group is powerful only because of my decisions."
"What? Is having a better relationship with the professor making you feel like his star student?"
"Maybe, he's complaining behind your back that you're an idiot. Just because he doesn't have a better option, he favours you. But soon he will know that he and I are the same."
Lex mockingly walked back towards Bruce, "Pretending to be a playboy, living a superficial life of luxury and debauchery in public, but secretly striving diligently to manage your own business, makes you feel like you are a genius who graciously pretends to be a commoner."
"But in fact, you're just an ordinary man. In front of a real genius, you are nothing…"
