"It wasn't your fault."
Those four words rang in Abe's head over and over again as he sat on the bed staring into nothing.
It sounds comical, coming from his father. Saying Abe was surprised was an understatement.
He knew how stubborn Mr Frederick was, so being surprised was called for.
'How about you should have f-----g said that before all this?'
Abe felt like he should have made his father's ear numb with these words, but he wasn't given the chance.
"It wasn't his fault?" Abe chewed the words in his mouth once more, tilting his head to the side.
He felt nothing really, no satisfaction whatsoever. He always knew it wasn't fault, anything and everything was not his fault.
If his father had said those words to him when he was younger, maybe he would have cared. Or perhaps if he had said it when he was still living under his roof, maybe, just maybe, the words would have impacted him.
But now?
To be sincere, he didn't feel any ounce of emotion. He felt empty.
