He walked into the kitchen and started making breakfast for himself.

Just as he was about to set the pot on the burner, he paused. He didn't know if he should cook for himself, or if he should add his uncle's portion to it.

When he was cleaning the whole house, he had expected to run into his uncle, or for his uncle to ask about breakfast. But nothing of the sort happened.

He thought his uncle decided to sleep in, or was busy with work, so he took his mind off it and continued cleaning.

He finally got his answer when he went into his uncle's room to clean it, it was empty.

Then it got Abe wondering about where his uncle might have gone very early on a Monday morning.

His uncle had told him about the completion of the building they were working on; he had mentioned it when Abe asked about going to work.

According to John, the building was complete with the roof being the only issue, and the roofing job was left to the roofing company.
