The third point of view.
Hemera stayed up all night reading books on war and politics. If she wanted to defeat one of the strongest alphas, she might as well do it properly. She did have her doubts. Elpis' ways are not really adding up and she wasn't sure what he was doing. Her mind sometimes went back to Crane. Those times when she thought about him, she was happy but now all she can think about is the pain he has caused her.
Elpis woke up in the middle of the night and saw Hemera passed out on the table. He lit the lamp on the bedside and went to her. he looked at all the open books on the table and sighed. She was really trying too hard. He gently lifted her and took her to the bed to rest. She needed her sleep. She had a long day tomorrow.
The sun was on Elpis face and he had to wake up. He had a lot of things to do and he couldn't be late. he looked at the other side of the bed and Hemera was still asleep. She looked really pretty with her eyes closed and her face relaxed. She looked like she shouldn't have any problem in the world as it was supposed to be. He moved a couple of hair strands that were on her face to the back of her ear. He wanted to take his time to admire how beautiful she was.
Elpis took a bath, got dressed, and ordered breakfast. He didn't know if he would be here if she woke up. She wakes up late but as his luck would have it, she slowly opens her eyes.
"Good morning." He spoke.
"What time is it?" she wiped her eyes
"Early." He answered. He didn't feel like eating breakfast anymore. He just wanted to speak to her before he left and he has that now.
"I will be leaving early today; I hope you have a nice time with my brother." He stood up to leave.
"Speaking of," she got down from the bed and ran to him, "are you sure it will be a good idea for your brother to train me? I mean, he hates me and forcing us to be together."
"Precisely why I did this. The both of you need to get along and you can't stay away from each other." He told her, "Besides, I know my brother; he would talk to you unless he is compelled to." He smiled at her. Hemera smiled at him as well. It felt nice to have someone talk to you nicely.
"Okay then, I leave." He told her. Elpis hesitated. He looked at her and then gave her a light kiss on the forehead. His eyes went down to her face. there was shock written all over it. He left a little sad but he understood. It will take some time for her to warm up to him. He headed for the door about to leave when he stopped him.
"Wait!" she called out, "What about Eliot and Crane? We haven't talked about that yet. How are we going to take them down?"
Elpis turned to her. he was silent. He looked at her. He didn't know what to say.
"I have thought of a way to start." She spoke. She looked at him with a smile like she was trying to gain his favor. What surprised him about this girl was how brave she was. Most people look down from fear when they talk to him but she wasn't afraid. He could see it in her eye
"We will talk about it… when I get back, okay?"
She took a deep breath, "Okay." She smiled and watched him leave. As he opened the door a maid appeared.
"My lady, Lord Kai is asking for you." She bowed and left.
Hemera had to get ready to train. Her aim right now was to get on Kai's good side. She had faith that it wouldn't be that difficult given that she had no bad intentions but from what she got about Kai, he was a hard nut to crack. She had to do everything to get the two brothers on her side. She had a feeling that there was more to this that meets the eye.
Elpis went to the pack house. He had hope of good news. He knew Drake could deliver.
"Anything new?" Elpis asked immediately as he laid eyes on Drake.
"There is a family that claims their child was abducted when she was little and they have trouble finding her. They claim Crescent Moon took her.
"And how sure are they?"
"They say it was the same day Crescent Moon tried to attack."
Elpis took a deep breath. He had hoped that they could be her parents. "What pack are they from?"
Our pack, alpha." Drake said.
"Really? Our pack?"
"Yes, alpha."
Elpis didn't want to believe it. If she was from his pack that means that she would have turned by now.
"Where are they?"
"Outside waiting for you alpha," Drake said.
"Okay, let them in."
The moment he set eyes on them he knew Hemera had nothing to do with them. They didn't look anything like her. None of them had her eyes and her shiny hair.
"Greetings alpha." They bowed.
"You said you are looking for your daughter."
From the moment they came in, he knew they were influential.
"Yes, alpha. She disappeared 19 years ago."
"And how does she look?" Elpis asked.
They gave him a drawing of a little. She was about the age of three.
"Okay, we will look into it and get back to you."
They both bowed and left.
"Alpha, what do you think?" Drake asked, eager to know what Elpis thought.
"They surely have a missing daughter but she is not Hemera."
