"Fear you? Why must I fear you?"

"You don't? You should start fearing me," Ragnar insisted, his tone firm yet perplexed.

"And for what reason?" she asked.

"There's no need for a reason to fear me," Ragnar replied, his voice tinged with frustration. "People just do."

Sophia's gaze didn't falter. "I don't understand why. You're just a man, Ragnar. A powerful man, yes, but still just a man."

Ragnar was taken aback by her words. He was used to people cowering before him, their fear evident in their eyes.

Yet, here was Sophia, standing before him with no trace of fear, only a deep, weary sadness.

Sophia's eyes, though hollow, conveyed a truth that Ragnar found unsettling. He struggled to maintain his composure, the boundaries he had tried so hard to keep now seemed meaningless.

Her defiance, born not out of rebellion but out of genuine belief, was something he hadn't encountered before.
