After tucking Calliope to sleep that night, Calix shared the details about his meeting with Mr. Guan this afternoon with Leslie. She quietly listened to him as they cuddled on the swing chair on the balcony.
"There's not much we can do for now aside from looking for Nicholas. I've tightened the security. More eyes will be watching us. It'll be uncomfortable but, it's the best measure so far."
Calix let out a heavy sigh. He pulled Leslie closer to him, seeking her warmth. Her head nestled in the crook of his neck.
Her warmth was not the only thing that helped in alleviating his tension. Her sweet, comforting scent and the rhyme of her heartbeat also ease his uneasiness.
Hearing the evident concern in Calix's voice distressed Leslie. She reached for one of his hands, interlocking their fingers together.
His calloused palm grazed on her soft one, fitting perfectly with each other.
