Covering her mouth, Leslie glanced at the closed door of the bedroom. She replayed the moment Calix scrambled to his feet just now, rushing out while giving excuses of showering for the morning.

Leslie woke up more than one hour ago, feeling all refreshed and relaxed. She found Calix lying very close to the edge. He would definitely fall from the bed if he made a wrong turn in his sleep.

'Like a mummy.'

That thought crossed Leslie's mind once she fully registered Calix's posture in the dimness of the room. He laid on his back, as straight as a pole with both hands clutching hard on the blanket.

Leslie could tell Calix had some difficulties before finally falling asleep. His slightly contorted face expressed how troubled he was. Seeing it almost made her laugh but, she painstakingly held back, unwilling to wake up the poor man before the right time.
