Capítulo 58: Aids

"Approve their deflection and allow the 'The Ecliptic Veil' to be brought into the country, but it must be heavily guarded and separate from them." Ivanov has made the decision, that instead of enemy from external, enemy from internal are much more deadly.

As long as they are united as one, as long as they still believe in communism and socialism, no matter how strong the enemies are, they can defeat them. This is the power of the collective, the power of the people.

"Inform the navy for help since they are still here. Ask them to make sure to separate the two girls from 'The Ecliptic Veil' and, if possible, separate them into two different ships. Send some of our men to surveillance them. We need to make sure these men treat this seriously."

"Affirmative, Colonel."

Soon, Serina and Aria were sent to a cruiser while the device was sent to another.

The device was not sent into Kirov or Kiev class, as Gorshkov thinks that this is the best way to minimize their losses, what if something happened to it?

After the resupply for the fleet has been done, the fleet starts to return. Suppose that it takes a longer time, but they reduce it after receiving the news of the 'The Ecliptic Veil'.

By the moment the fleet carries with 'The Ecliptic Veil' leaves the Karak area and enters the ocean, something in the dark awakens, showing his red eyes.

The unknown releases his energy, awakening the others who are asleep as well.

---

Just as the fleets returned, another meeting was held between the Karaks and the USSR.

Today's meeting is about aid or compensation to the Karak due to the Soviet's nuke destruction. Zakhaev will be the representative as usual.

Well, King Aric, the Soviet Union sincerely apologizes for the destruction of Ashenveil Lake. In light of this, my supervisor and comrade Brezhnev have made their decision. The Soviet Union will increase the aid provided to the Karak, including ore, food, and other natural resources, we will not concern ourselves with where these resources go.

"We also offer a comprehensive reconstruction plan for the area surrounding Ashenveil Lake. However, as you know, we are still quite distant from the lake, and it will take time for us to send personnel, materials, and equipment there. Therefore, we hope that the Karak can also extend some assistance and patience in this matter."

"To expedite the process, we will approach it in two ways. The first will follow the original plan, as we continue the construction of the railways and stations to facilitate travel across the kingdom in a shorter time. The second involves our hope to build an airport outside Karakum, once the airport is completed, our planes can transport personnel, materials, and equipment directly here, allowing construction to commence immediately from Karakum."

"Of course, the aid we provide extends beyond that. The Soviet Union will also supply you with machinery and training for your workers, which could help the Karak transition from a medieval agricultural kingdom to an industrial nation within a few years. We hope this will enhance the Karak's strength in both military and economic terms so that when the orcs launch an attack, you will be better equipped to handle it."

Aric, looking at the proposal Zakhaev provided to him, feels confused. He cannot comprehend what the Soviets intend to achieve. First, they nuke his country just to issue a warning, then offer aid to help rebuild. Are they out of their minds? Schizophrenic? Do they want to play both the good and bad roles simultaneously?

"Well, Mr Zakhaev, the Soviet Union has given me a great proposal, it is ... very attractive, but shall you give me some time to discuss it with my chancellor, you know I need to consider it from a different perspective."

"Sure, King Aric, take your time to consider it, the Soviet Union are waiting for your approval, and all our supplies will be sent into Karak." Finish saying, Zakhaev leaves with a smile, like everything is under control.

"Start a meeting now!"

Aric ordered his guard, and the guard immediately ran out to inform all the advisors and chancellor.

The grand hall of Karak's royal palace was thick with tension. Tall stone columns loomed over the gathering, lit dimly by flickering torches and the pale light from high stained-glass windows.

A rolled-up document, bearing the crimson seal of the Soviet Union, rested on a small table between them. It is the proposal of the Soviet Union.

The debate raged louder with every passing moment. After Aric passed the Soviet proposal to them, everyone had a different opinion. With the lead of Prime Minister William and Marshal Thomas, they reject this proposal.

"Your Majesty, the Soviets don't offer aid without expecting something in return. They bring their machines, their factories, their workers, and their ideas. Their priest already spreading all their ideology in the northern part of the kingdom, and accepting the proposal only boosts their progress." William shakes his head.

"And their armies, Your Majesty. The Soviets are not here out of the goodness of their hearts. Today it's aid, tomorrow it's occupation. Their railways and factories could serve their purposes, transporting troops, consolidating power." Thomas said seriously.

Aric listened to what they said and shook his head, of course, he knew the consequences.

"Gentlemen, you are thinking too ideally. I am asking you all here not to discuss whether to accept or reject their proposal, but rather how we should accept it while minimizing our losses. Do you truly believe we have the right to reject it? What if they experience another accident, and their missile 'coincidentally' lands in Karakum?"

The hall remains in silence.

By this time a noble said,

"My majesty, maybe we should just compromise? I mean it may not just be a bad thing at all if we let them into the kingdom, remember we are allied with the Valeria, they have strong research ability, we can just ask them to send some men here to watch and research the Soviets technology."
