Yu Yusheng's heart sank when he heard his father's disappointed tone. Jian Mingyu was quick to laden a soft smile and apologise respectfully. However, Jing Ling's younger son disagreed with the reprimand that his father's lover received.
"Forgive me, Grandmaster," Jian Mingyu expressed with an apologetic smile, clasping his hands in front of him with a bow. "I was negligent."
"Father, it's not his fault," Yu Yusheng intervened, shaking his head. "I…I was seeking Mingyu Gege's counsel. He was kind enough to lend me his ear and give me advice, as any righteous and passionate Grandmaster would."
A shadow of hurt cast over Jing Ling's expression briefly for a part of him was curious to know what kind of burdens his younger son shouldered that couldn't be shared with him. Subtly, he hid his clenched fist behind his back but nodded understandingly.
