The first thing that came into Gareth's sight were the desiccated trees that looked like they would crumble with just the slightest touch. It was totally different from what was seen from the outside.
"World weaving is being applied here. I am sure you know that," Mira whispered to him.
He nodded.
Despite what Mira had said earlier about there not being another initial completion cultivator, she was being cautious.
This place looked like it had been sucked of all life. Even the grasses on the ground were crumbling under their footsteps.
"The world weaving being used here is very sinister."
"What do you mean?"
"Someone, a world weaver, is siphoning the life-force in this area to probably nurture something."
"Shouldn't they be back by now?" The two heard a voice that angrily questioned.
"What do you mean, Master Olaf. The number of beasts you asked for would take some time to bring back." A voice answered.
"With the two bosses joining forces, they should be back in no time."
"If they don't get back in two hours at most. That will set our progress back by a few days. I hope you all can answer for that," The one called Master Olaf said.
"If they are not back in an hour, we will set out to hunt some beasts."
"You all better do so."
Mira raised her brow at that.
She walked out into the clearing where those voices were coming from. Gareth followed behind her.
"Tsk. Tsk. What are you lots doing here?" Mira asked the people in the clearing who had turned around at this time.
"Who are you?"
"Halt!"
Different voices shouted, as all of them drew their weapons and activated their techniques.
There were eleven people there including the one called Master Olaf.
"There is no need for that," Mira said. She raised her hands up slowly as if to signify that she was of no threat.
Then a sweet and melodic voice burst out of her mouth. Everyone entered into a daze in an instant. With the exception of the singer, Master Olaf and of course Gareth.
Although the daze only lasted for a few seconds, Mira had already cut four of them down.
The others who had survived banded together and fought her.
Master Olaf stood behind them, but he wasn't idle. The world energy around him was in a very dangerous state as he was preparing a very deadly move. He however had no chance to complete his action. His neck was broken by Gareth who made his move.
He and Mira quickly made a short work of the remaining six.
"It is admirable how you kill." Mira said.
Gareth froze for a moment.
"It is something everyone that walks this path will have to do. Kill or be killed. Do not stress yourself. You will get over it. Just don't keep it bottled up within you."
They both walked to the place that could be considered the center of this world weave that spanned a portion of the mountain. There was a massive pit that dug deep into the mountain.
The world energy within the pit was flowing in a set pattern, unlike free world energy. This was the nexus of the world weaves that surrounded this place. The world energy there was abundant enough that even Gareth could see it.
The bones of beasts were scattered around a glowing plant in the middle of the pit.
Mira was at the edge of this pit. Gareth was also with her.
"Are they feeding that plant?"
"Of course. With life-force, and this is no ordinary plant." Mira smiled at Gareth. "We are in good luck."
"What is it?"
"Something that will guarantee a chance for perfect completion. A soul enlightening lily."
Gareth had never heard of something like this before.
"Can we use it?"
"Of course. The two of us will use it after it matures."
"How long till then?"
"It depends on how fast you can bring those bodies here. Including those ones outside, that initial completion cultivator will shorten the time needed by a lot. A pity nothing is left of the second one."
"We are going to use their bodies?"
"Do you have any other use for it?"
Gareth had no reply to that.
He moved the bodies into a spatial ring he took from one of the bodies. He dumped them into the pit after that.
"That Master Olaf or whatever has made our work easier. We just have to feed it till it matures, and we will reap the fruit of all their efforts. At least it is a worthwhile trade for almost getting killed."
Gareth wondered how her brain worked when he heard what she said last, but he could not find it in himself to disagree with her.
"Go kill a few beasts. The strong ones. And let's get this done with."
Gareth didn't move.
"What? I am not hogging it all to myself."
"How did you know how long it will take?"
"I am a world weaver myself. Happy now?"
"You are a world weaver?"
"Yes, I am. Now can you get to the task."
"Alright."
*
It wasn't up to an hour, when Gareth returned. There were tens of beasts dropped into the pit where the soul enlightening lily was.
"Don't you know the meaning of few."
"A few tens."
Mira grinned. "You are very funny. I never knew you had it in you."
"Can you tell me about world weaving?"
"What do you want to know?"
"Everything you can tell me."
Mira sat by the pit. Gareth joined her.
"World weaving is the study of the methods in which world energy can be utilized. It is that simple. However the methods themselves are numerous and uncountable. This led to them being classified under fields, and methodologies were developed for each field. The methods of world weaving while varied all follow some fundamental rules. That is why I can tell what this world weave does. The fields I focus on has to do with sounds and illusions."
"It seems it is something that is going to take a lot of time to learn."
"Time well spent," Mira told him. "It is something you should not ignore. The martial techniques and cultivation techniques cultivators use are also a part of world weaving."
"I can create techniques myself."
"Weren't all techniques created?"
"How long till this thing matures."
"In an hour. The two of us will refine it then. I will teach you the method to use now."
Mira thought him the method. It was to be used together with his cultivation technique.
"It is about time. Get ready."
The glow the soul enlightening lily released became intense before it suddenly stopped glowing. The world energy around it became agitated. The plant was shaking intensely as if trying to leave its spot.
Mira sang a melodic tune. The song was slow and it seemed to calm the lily into a lull. The agitation of the world energy around it slowed down.
"It is time to refine it," Mira said.
She started her cultivation and Gareth also started his.
Gareth could feel the world energy entering his body in large amounts. The most amazing thing however was that his mind had been led to a mysterious realm. Some esoteric truths were being whispered to him. He was in a state where he knew each truth but was unable to comprehend them when put together.
This state lasted an instant yet an eternity.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Mira grinning at him.
"How was it?"
"Fantastic."
"Well it shouldn't be anything less than that. That's at least a hundred million world stones."
"It is that expensive?"
"What do you expect for anything that can guarantee perfect completion. It seems like you do not understand the powers of completions. You saw what that guy did to you? Someone in the perfect completion would have burned you to ashes with the same amount of power he used. The effect each completion has on your control of world energy is ridiculous.
"The most important fact is that the height you reach, as dependent as it is on your talent, the level of your completion also matters."
"So this plant guarantees me perfect completion."
"Yes. As long as you continue cultivating, you will find it easier and faster to reach perfect completion. Those esoteric truths you witnessed in that state are what you will have to comprehend in each completion. Since you have been exposed to them, it will be easier to comprehend them when the time comes for your completion."
Gareth checked the gains he had. He had felt the world energy that entered his body earlier. He was stunned when he checked his foundation. Somehow, he was near halfway to his initial completion.
"How is this possible?"
Mira could guess at what he meant.
"You can see that we are truly in good luck. I also had my own gains."
Mira released her world energy.
Gareth felt it and was stunned. It was the same sensation he felt from the initial completion cultivator. Mira was at the initial completion of the awakening realm.
"This is amazing."
"As amazing as it is, we have to leave here.
"We have done enough adventuring, don't you think?"
"I agree. We should get on the safe routes."
"I have something for you." Mira brought out half of the spatial rings they looted.
"I have divided everything we looted equally, and this is your half of it."
"Thank you."
"What is that? We went through life and death together."
Gareth only laughed.
