Capítulo 89: Chapter 89: Codename - White Dove!!!

Without waiting for Grey Snake to finish, Chase interrupted him.

"How did you find me?"

"I was already here, and you just happened to come in front of me," the man with the white mask said. "We're quite fateful, aren't we?"

"Are you a member of World Serpent?" Chase frowned slightly and asked, "Grey Snake?"

"You know me?" Grey Snake was somewhat surprised.

"No, I just heard your companion talk about your name," Chase shook his head, denying, "They never avoided talking about you when chatting with me. But then again, who would think a comatose person could gather information from the outside world."

"Oh, Mr. Grey Snake, what do you mean?" Chase looked at Grey Snake, who had picked up a gun and aimed it at his forehead, with a puzzled expression and a strange tone.

Leaving aside the fact that, with his combat experience as Herrscher of Void, he could easily deflect bullets, just having the ability of the void made Chase immune to conventional firearms.

"Since you are a member of World Serpent, you should know about the incidents I caused," Chase's tone carried a sense of helplessness and mockery. "Even your colleagues couldn't take me down when they teamed up. The pistol in your hand is probably not going to cut it either."

Whether it's within seven steps or beyond, he's faster than Snake man.

"The drama has already begun, but you're still a character in it," Grey Snake withdrew the hand holding the gun and returned to the initial topic, "That girl lied to you, and you're still in the dark."

Chase frowned slightly. The sense of danger emanating from the man named Grey Snake in front of him was even stronger than Raven and Wolf mask chocolate before. No hurry, let's play with him. Spatial teleportation was ready to go, and if things went south, he could leave in an instant. Moreover, he had already formed several layers of invisible void barriers around him.

"According to Wolf's research, the stigma on your hand is not innate but acquired," Grey Snake said slowly, "And it hasn't been long since it was acquired, probably in the recent past, right?"

"What are you trying to say?" Chase pretended to be annoyed, like a child whose secret had been exposed, and his displeasure was evident in his eyes.

Grey Snake seemed satisfied with Chase's reaction. Despite having immense power, Chase was ultimately a young and spirited child.

"Four months ago, the Herrscher of Void of Void awakened. On that day, the sky was torn apart, and terrifying Honkai beasts descended from the heavens. The world plunged into a great collapse, and survivors fled in all directions..."

"Among them were the lucky ones who awakened stigmata..." Grey Snake said, and with a red artificial eye, he appraised Chase, with a meaning understood by those in the know, without the need for further explanation.

It was clear that Grey Snake considered Chase a victim of this disaster. Victims were not uncommon; what was rare was those who awakened stigmata and survived. Moreover, considering Chase's demonstrated ability earlier, even though it was unclear what this spatial ability, so similar to the Herrscher of Void, was all about, just in terms of the development of this ability, Chase was worth World Serpent's attention.

"And the mastermind behind this great collapse, the instigator, is the lady you mentioned, oh no," Grey Snake paused, "Perhaps I should call her Kiana Kaslana."

Chase was somewhat surprised, not at Kiana's real name being revealed but at Grey Snake's intelligence gathering ability.

"As a member of World Serpent, you should know about the incidents I caused," Chase calmly looked at Grey Snake, "And Kiana, posing as an S-rank Valkyrie of Schicksal, I'm naturally aware of that. But calling her Kiana Kaslana, I also knew that. Besides, Kiana is currently wanted by Schicksal, and that's something I'm aware of too."

Although the emulator seemed a bit useless, it still had its uses.

[Main Mission Target: Kiana Kaslana]

[Target Introduction: B-rank Valkyrie of Schicksal, Container for the resurrection of Sirin, instigator of the great collapse, student of St. Freya Academy...]

Target status: Wanted, bad, chaotic, self-doubt, self-destructive tendencies, trust.

However, the simulator's usefulness is limited, and now Chase just wants to quickly complete the main mission and unlock the support function.

After speaking, Chase looked at the Grey Serpent, waiting for his response.

The red artificial eye of the Grey Serpent flickered uncertainly. He asked, "What is your purpose in approaching the Herrscher of the Void?"

"What about your purpose in approaching me?" Chase asked in return. "If the combat power of your world's serpents is at the same level as before, you won't be able to catch me."

Grey Serpent fell silent. If it weren't for the lord still trapped in the quantum sea, how could their world's serpents be so passive?

Grey Serpent's purpose in contacting Chase was simply to induce him to join the World Serpent using coercion and temptation. Based on previous observations, Grey Serpent initially thought Chase was a hot-blooded youth with power but was swayed by the Herrscher of the Void. However, now that he had a real encounter, Grey Serpent had to change his perspective. The initial coercion had turned into temptation.

"What do you want?" Grey Serpent asked.

"Share the information controlled by the World Serpent with me," Chase replied.

"Information can be shared, but I need proof of your value." The red artificial eye of Grey Serpent blinked as he assessed the man bargaining in front of him. His expression behind the mask was unreadable. "What can you bring to the Serpent?"

"A Herrscher-level combat power." Chase smiled, pointing at himself. On the rooftop, numerous virtual voids appeared, and the tips of spatial spears exuded a chilling coldness in the moonlight.

Grey Serpent looked at Chase, who was displaying his abilities in mid-air. After careful consideration, he nodded.

"Although your background is somewhat unclear, it doesn't matter. As long as you can help the Serpent, we won't investigate your past."

"Join the Serpent, and the Serpent will tell you everything you want to know."

Chase descended to the ground, retracting his power and smiling as he extended his hand. "A pleasant collaboration."

Sword in hiding, meant for using the sword.

...

Arc City: XXX, industrial zone.

Wearing his own hood, Raven stared at the black-haired boy in front of him, wide-eyed.

"Alright, Raven, let me introduce you. This is the new member of the World Serpent. Put away your Seven Thunders of Retribution: Narukami," Grey Serpent said, looking at the slingshot-shaped Seven Thunders of Retribution: Narukami in Raven's hands. He suppressed the pleasure in his heart that wanted to burst out in laughter, introducing Raven.

To be honest, Raven holding the slingshot-shaped Seven Thunders of Retribution: Narukami did look a bit funny. Of course, Grey Serpent knew it wasn't Raven's intention. As one of the Third God Keys left over from the previous civilization, the Seven Thunders of Retribution: Narukami had a certain degree of self-awareness. Sometimes, its appearance depended on its own mood, and the user couldn't control it.

Raven glared at the slingshot in his hand, and to Chase, who witnessed their previous battle, Raven's current fierce appearance was far from the ferocity during the fight. It was more like a small cat that had lost its dried fish, meowing angrily.

"Haha." Chase lowered his head, covering his mouth, chuckling.

"What are you laughing at?" Raven put away the Seven Thunders of Retribution: Narukami, raised his eyebrows, and spoke with displeasure.

"Miss Raven, I have received professional training. No matter how funny it is, I won't laugh." Chase's expression was serious, appearing sincere.

"You were definitely laughing just now!" Raven was a little annoyed, and couldn't help but give the Seven Thunders of Retribution: Narukami a quizzical look, thinking, 'What's wrong with this guy? Sneaking in with a straight face.'

"Okay, unless I can't help it," Chase added a condition.

If this were a manga or an anime, a big cross would probably appear on Raven's head by now, but unfortunately, it wasn't. Despite some irritation, Raven couldn't fight with Chase again since they were colleagues now. She could only give him another glare with her crimson red eyes.

"Alright, Raven, take the new colleague to familiarize him with the new environment. I have a trade with Hyperion, so I'll leave first." Grey Serpent said slowly, preparing to leave with his umbrella but was stopped by Raven.

"Grey Serpent, he just helped the Herrscher of the Void escape and destroyed the Wolf's base..."

"Raven," Grey Serpent's cold mechanical voice interrupted Raven, "The World Serpent doesn't care about his intentions. We only need him to demonstrate his value."

"As for why he did those things, let's turn the page." Grey Serpent continued slowly, "Only by saying goodbye to the past can we embrace the future."

After speaking, the figure of the gray snake disappeared into the darkness, leaving only Chase and Raven standing in place, staring at each other.

Raven glanced at Chase, sighed again with a hint of disdain in his tone, "At least it was recommended by the gray snake. For these days, you better follow me and work together."

.......

Three days later, underground seventh floor of the Arc City Medical Trade District.

It was night, 10 p.m., clear.

At ten o'clock in the evening, for the high school students in the celestial city, it was the time for evening self-study to end. For the overtime workers, perhaps it was just the beginning of the night.

Neon lights lit up, bustling city.

Even though the outside world had long been devastated and in ruins, the central part of this city remained prosperous and safe, as if disasters had never happened. People's joys and sorrows do not communicate, and when disasters have not truly arrived on oneself, the sorrows of others become just a topic on the dining table.

As the minutes displayed on the office computer screens reset to zero once again, the exhausted workers finished their overtime and hurriedly headed to the staff dormitories.

The lights in the offices of the work area went out one by one, and the mice hiding in the shadows began their activities after a brief hesitation. However, in the darkness, it was not only mice that moved.

"Finally finished, almost killed me. Isn't it annoying?" A well-fed man with glasses cautiously stuck his head out of his office, looked around, breathed a sigh of relief after a quick survey, muttered to himself, and then walked out.

He was in charge of foreign trade at the Arc City Medical Company. As he walked out of the office, he did not feel the joy of finishing work; instead, he wore a displeased expression and grumbled.

To wait for these employees to finish work, he waited until 10 o'clock!!!

What's the point of this overworking? Clearly, there's no triple overtime pay. The supervisor was puzzled, looked around again, confirmed that there was no one behind him, and then tore off his tie, threw it on the ground, and burst out with a curse:

"Damn! I've really had enough."

After saying that, he muttered to himself, "After finishing this job, I'll go directly to North America. Anyway, this lousy company can't reach over there. With this money, it's enough for me to live a carefree life."

With that, the man walked to the door of the auditing office. After turning off the main circuit breaker, he swaggered in.

"Finally finished a deal, good times are still ahead..." he muttered to himself. These words seemed to give him strength, and he took out the key to the safe that had been prepared long ago and opened it.

However, what awaited him was not a pile of cash but the face of a young man.

The black-haired youth smiled at him, "Sorry, this place is already full."

"Damn!" The man was startled and quickly stepped back, accidentally stepping on an empty soda can on the ground. He stumbled and fell to the ground, shouted in pain, then regained his senses, glaring at Chase, and cursed, "Who are you? This is the territory of the Arc City Medical Center, you damn intruder. When did you sneak in..."

A kick to the man's body, and he was directly knocked to the ground. Due to his somewhat large body, he rolled on the ground a few times.

"Too noisy. Mr. Supervisor, you are suspected of embezzlement, abuse of power, and corruption. Any objections?" Chase said.

"You... Fuck you..." Cold sweat streamed down the man's face, and he cursed under his breath.

"Oh, now add one more charge of insult to the officer..." Chase interrupted the man's words.

"... in Good health!!!" The man retracted his previous statement.

"I take back what I said." Chase raised his eyebrows, surprised at the man's tact. He thought the man would resist to the end.

Click. The sound of the circuit breaker being pulled open.

Then the lights in the office came on, and both Chase and the man looked over.

"Chase, stop playing around," another black-haired youth turned on the lights, walked to Chase's side, looked at the man lying on the ground in front of him with indifferent eyes, as if looking at a dead person, and said, "Execute him as soon as possible."

"I object! You don't have the authority, this is illegal!" The man, hearing that he would be executed on the spot, became anxious and shouted.

"Now you're talking about the law. When you embezzled funds, why didn't you talk about the law?" Chase looked at the man with a mocking expression. Then he looked towards the door, where a gray-haired woman with a cloak was standing. It was Raven.

Chase smiled and asked, "Miss Raven, what do you think?"

"How much did he embezzle?" Raven leaned against the door frame and asked calmly.

"Three times in total, the first time 2 million, the second time 4 million, the third time 5 million, totaling..." Chen Tianwu reported the amount of the man's corruption like reciting a menu. As the man on the ground listened, the more he listened, the more cold sweat he shed, and his expression changed from the previous toughness to extreme fear.

He understood; he had really done something bad this time.

Bang!

Before Chen Tianwu could finish speaking, Raven pulled the trigger.

"Ah ah ah! My right hand!" The man lying on the ground shouted loudly, holding his right hand, feeling as if he had lost the power of a king.

Chase frowned, another punch, and the man fainted.

"Why not kill him?" Chase asked.

"With so much money, it's almost as much as my villa island. It's a pity to kill him. Give it to Jackal." Raven said slowly, then looked at Chase, "Just throw this person into Jackal's laboratory. She'll be happy to have an additional test subject."

"Ah, good." Chase was stunned for a moment, then nodded. A virtual hole appeared under the man who had fainted, and he fell directly down. Then the hole closed, and not even a drop of blood was left on the floor.

"So, your ability is really convenient..." Raven couldn't help but sigh.

"I think so too." Chase nodded, agreeing.

"Uh, as far as I know, Miss Raven's villa island cost 150 million..." Chen Tianwu said slowly on the side.

But before he could finish speaking, Raven's gun, which had not been lowered, was pressed against his forehead.

"Although I don't know how you know this information, I think you should shut up and pretend not to know." Raven said indifferently.

Chen Tianwu instantly backed down, shrinking his neck.

"150 million, huh..." Chase sighed.

"What's wrong, do you have a problem?" Raven frowned, staring at him.

Chase shook his head, "Just in the past few days, the economic embezzlers we caught already have an amount of corruption that could buy a villa island, right?"

"Hey, those people's bodies haven't been cremated yet. No? Quickly send them to Jackal. What? Buried? Then dig them out and send them to Jackal, don't let them cool off halfway." Raven looked at Chase and Chen Tianwu, sighed and smiled bitterly, without saying much.

When Raven finished busy, she finally spoke, "Alright, let's put an end to this topic."

"Chase, and Chen Tianwu, considering your outstanding performance recently and the recommendation of the World Snake executives, if everything goes well, you will soon have your own code names. Have you thought about it? I'll report it together."

"Night Owl." Chen Tianwu said slowly.

"What about you?" Raven nodded, then looked at Chase.

Chase thought for a moment and said slowly:

"Then call it White Dove."
