He tried to escape from Owen's proximity, but he couldn't match the speed of the lightning.

The Fingertip Lightning, initially a scattered arc, transformed into a powerful current upon contact with the trident. 

The thunderbolt conducted through the trident into Leyton's body, enveloping him in a bright electrical glow. The fierce current rampaged through him.

Leyton writhed in agony, trying desperately to release the Seastar Trident, but it seemed as if the lightning had a magnetic pull, clinging stubbornly to his palm.
