Chapter 12

"Did you not hear me? You have been summoned?" The knight growled out again.

Kael ignored the knight and instead sat on the floor. He pretended to be so immersed in the book he was going through although he wasn't reading it. He was just doing it to irritate the knight and make him know where he stands. In his past life, he let people walk over him. Including those who had no power over him. Kael was over that now. He was not going to let that happen again.

"Get your butt off the floor. The king summons you." The knight growled.

Kael once again ignored him. The knight, annoyed, moved with angry steps towards Kael. He tried to pick Kael off the floor but Kael gave him an angry stare. The knight moved back.

Kael's blue eyes had taken on an even darker shade of blue. The knight had no idea how that could be possible. The air surrounding Kael had grown thicker and there was an intense chill in the air that the cracked mirror had frost on its edges. Even George felt the cold and he was a ghost.

"Touch me and see what it is that I do to you," Kael said in a levelled voice.

The knight swallowed. Without saying another word, he turned in his heels and left. Kael blinked and the room went back to its normal temperature. George floated towards Kael immediately.

"What did you just do?" George asked him.

Kael turned to him with a frown. "I sent the knight out. That much was obvious right?"

George shook his head. "No, no, no. And don't you dare use that trick on me? I thought you guys were not supposed to be able to learn about magic until you turned eighteen?" George asked.

"I am eighteen."

"And you are not even in the academy yet. How did you do that?" George asked him again.

Kael frowned, confusion written all over his face as he tried to think of what George was asking him about. The only thing he had done was send the knight out of the room.

"I have no idea what you mean. I only sent the knight out and that was because he was being extremely rude." Kael told him.

"No. That's not what I'm talking about and you know it. The room suddenly had a massive chill and I knew it was because of you." George took a deep breath before he continued. "What's the colour of your core?"

"Why are you so obsessed with the colour of my core?"

"Because that thing you just did, it's not recorded anywhere. I've never even seen it. No core has ever given someone that intense power. How did you do it?" George asked him.

Kael stood up from the floor with his book in hand. "I have no idea what you are talking about. What I just did was to send a disrespectful knight out of the room and I need to prepare for when his ass comes back with a superior or if possible, my father."

Kael had just finished speaking when his father walked into the room. King Cassius was a tall man who demanded respect with every move of his body. Kael also noticed how the king had three people with him. One was Augustus and the other person was the knight that had summoned him. The last person was someone Kale had no idea he would meet again. The commander and his first teacher although he had been a stubborn child so he refused to learn anything from the man. Hebron, the commander of the royal knights and a trusted friend of King Cassius had died due to an illness.

Kael was filled with emotion as he stared at the man. He gave Kael a small smile and Kael returned it with one of his own.

"You refused my summons?" Cassius asked Kael.

"No one summoned me," Kael told his father.

Cassius turned to the knight who shook his head. "I told him he had been summoned."

"I thought you were talking to someone else when you came in," Kael told him.

"You knew very well I was talking to you." The knight retorted.

"But you never addressed me. How was I to know you were talking to me?" Kael asked him.

"You knew I was talking to you. There was no other person in the room. I was fucking…."

"Is that how you speak to the prince?" Cassius asked with a raised eyebrow.

The knight swallowed nervously and turned to Kael as if asking for help. Kael shrugged like he had no idea what was happening.

"I…I was…"

"He never even addressed me as the prince. He just barged into the room and said, 'You've been summoned.'" Kael mimicked the knight's voice.

A vein throbbed at his father's temple. Kael was enjoying the show. The knight knew he was in trouble already. He was not to be in the presence of royalty without first greeting and he had also been rude to Kael. But it wasn't his fault. He had thought Kael wouldn't get annoyed or say anything. With all the tantrums he pulled, there was no need to anyone that Kael was a pushover. The maids had all laughed about it and even some knights gossiped about him.

"Hebron," Cassius called out.

"Your grace." Hebron bowed as he answered Cassius.

"Deal with your people," Cassius said.

Hebron nodded and took the knight out with him. That was anticlimactic and unlike what Kael had expected but it was better than nothing. He was going to take everything little by little.

"You, follow, me," Cassius said to Kael

He turned and walked out of the room leaving Kael to trail after him. Kael was about to move when Augustus held his hands.

"Were you scared?" Augustus asked him.

Kael frowned. This was familiar to him. In his past life, he had thought Augustus cared about him especially when he talked to Kael with a soft voice but Kael knew better now. And he also knew what Augustus was going to say next. 'It must have been so hard being licked in here. I'll try to speak with father again.'

Kael laughed when he heard those words. It seems he had returned to the past or someone was playing a fucking game with him.
