As Yuji explored the bottom floor, Nobara ascended to the top, hammering at the ready. The old building creaked and groaned in response to their movements, adding an eerie soundtrack to their mission.
Nobara muttered to herself, "Let's see what's lurking up here. Hopefully, nothing too creepy." She navigated the dimly lit hallways, her focus unwavering.
Nobara pressed forward through the shadowed corridors of the decrepit building, her senses alert to any sign of danger. As she turned a corner, a soft melody echoed through the air. Her eyes narrowed as she spotted a mannequin-like Curse spirit, its porcelain face devoid of emotion.
"Hey, You curse, the mannequin in the middle, isn't it your idea to hide?" Nobara said as she tightened her grip on the hammer and took some nails.
The mannequin-like Curse spirit remained silent, its lifeless gaze fixed on Nobara. Without breaking her stride, she continued, "Well, let's make this interesting, shall we?" Nobara swiftly launched a few nails towards the mannequin, pinning it to the wall.
As the Curse spirit struggled against its constrained position, Nobara approached, her eyes gleaming with determination. "Now that you can't hide, let's see what you're really made of," she remarked, hammer poised for action.
The mannequin, though restricted, seemed to emanate an unsettling aura. Nobara sensed a subtle shift in the atmosphere, a sign that the Curse spirit was ready to retaliate. With a sudden burst of movement, the mannequin broke free from the nails, its joints creaking as it lunged towards Nobara.
Quick on her feet, Nobara sidestepped the attack, narrowly avoiding the mannequin's grasp. The confrontation escalated into a dynamic dance of strikes and dodges, the old building's groans adding a chilling backdrop.
Nobara, with a flick of her wrist, summoned her hammer back into her hand. "You're not as tough as you look," she taunted, launching a relentless assault on the Curse spirit's joints. The mannequin, though resilient, couldn't escape the precision of Nobara's strikes.
As the battle intensified, Nobara noticed a change in the Curse spirit's demeanour. It began to mimic her movements with uncanny accuracy, making the fight more challenging. Undeterred, Nobara adapted her strategy, introducing unpredictability into her attacks.
Nobara, quick-witted and undaunted, continued to engage in a fierce dance with the mannequin-like Curse spirit. As their movements became more synchronized, Nobara couldn't help but smirk amidst the intensity of the battle.
"Nice try, copying my moves. But you'll need more than imitation to keep up with me," she taunted, her words echoing in the dimly lit hallway. The Curse spirit, seemingly provoked, responded with a renewed onslaught of attacks.
Nobara skillfully dodged and countered, each strike delivered with calculated precision. The mannequin struggled to keep pace, its attempts at mimicry falling short. Nobara's confidence soared as she exploited the Curse spirit's inability to match her expertise.
"Come on, show me what you've got! Mimicry won't save you from a beating," Nobara jeered, her banter adding a layer of psychological warfare to the physical confrontation. The old building seemed to absorb the echoes of her taunts, amplifying the eerie ambience.
The Curse spirit, fueled by frustration, increased the intensity of its attacks. However, Nobara's agile movements and mocking remarks continued to disrupt its attempts at replication. She revelled in the psychological advantage, keeping the Curse spirit off-balance.
"You're like a second-rate performer trying to imitate the real deal," Nobara scoffed, her laughter mingling with the dissonant sounds of the ongoing struggle. The mannequin, seemingly affected by her mockery, became more erratic in its movements.
Nobara seized the opportunity, delivering a series of rapid strikes that left the Curse spirit staggered. With a triumphant grin, she taunted once more, "Maybe next time, choose a better act. This one's falling apart."
The mannequin, its porcelain form showing signs of wear, struggled to maintain its composure. Nobara, relentless in her assault, aimed for the final blow. With a powerful swing, she shattered the Curse spirit's core, leaving it in a state of irreparable disarray.
"Easy, let's hope Itadori finished his side," Nobara said as she turned around, only to see a child trembling in the corner.
A child? What is a child doing here? He probably snuck in for fun and ended up hiding from curses.
"It's alright, kid. You are safe now. Get up." Nobara offered her hand for the child to get but he just shook his head, refusing Nobara.
Did this brat just refuse me? Mm, I read from the magazine that beautiful women are often disliked by children. Guess I had to sacrifices something for my beauty. I just have to bring Itadori then. Nobara thought.
"You wait here, kid. I will call my friend over. " Nobara was about to leave but the child's voice stopped her.
"Wait, Don't leave me." Hearing the child's panicked voice Nobara turned around only to meet with a hairy curse, holding the child hostage.
Nobara's eyes narrowed as she assessed the situation. The child's trembling form was now caught in the clutches of a hairy curse, its malevolent grin revealing a sinister intent. Nobara's protective instincts kicked in, and she slowly raised her hands in a calming gesture.
"Easy now, we don't want anyone getting hurt," she said, her tone steady as she eyed the curse. "Let the kid go, and we can talk about this."
The curse growled, tightening its grip on the child. The young boy looked terrified, his eyes pleading for help. Nobara's mind raced, considering her options. Without taking her eyes off the curse, she reached for her hammer, preparing for a swift and precise strike.
But before she could make a move, a voice echoed from behind. "Need a hand, Nobara?" Itadori appeared, having finished exploring the bottom floor. He assessed the situation, ready to assist.
Nobara nodded, a brief sense of relief washing over her. "Yeah, this curse thinks it can use the kid as a shield."
Itadori clenched his fists, his determination clear. "Let the kid go, or you'll regret it."
The curse, unfazed, grinned wider.
As the tense standoff continued, Nobara and Itadori exchanged a quick glance, silently communicating their strategy. With a sudden burst of speed, Itadori lunged at the curse, creating a diversion. Seizing the opportunity, Nobara swiftly swung her hammer, aiming for the curse's weakened flank.
The curse caught off guard, and howled in pain, releasing its hold on the child. Itadori grabbed the trembling boy, ensuring his safety.
"Run!" Itadori shouted to the child, who wasted no time escaping the danger zone. Seeing that he lost his survival tickets. The curse quickly attacked Yuji, who was near him.
As Yuji swiftly dodged the curse's attack, he countered with a precise strike, severing the creature's hand with his Cursed weapon. The hairy curse recoiled in pain, its howls echoing through the dimly lit hallway.
Seeing that it couldn't win, the curse broke the window and ran.
"Itadori, give me that arm," Nobara asked Itadori as she took
Nobara acted quickly. She channelled her Cursed energy into her hammer. The air seemed to hum with an invisible force as she honed in on the vibrations of the fleeing curse.
{Resonance} she murmured as she hit the nail on the straw puppet, which was placed above the served hand of the curse.
With a resounding sound, the curse collapsed, defeated and slayed. Nobara released the resonance, and the straw puppet returned to a lifeless state. She looked at Itadori, a satisfied smirk playing on her lips.
"That's how you turn their own tricks against them," Nobara remarked, her hammer still charged with the remnants of Cursed energy.
Nobara glanced at Itadori, a shared moment of accomplishment passing between them. "Guess we make a good team," she remarked, her earlier irritation with the child's refusal momentarily forgotten.
Itadori grinned. "Definitely. Let's keep going and see what else this place has in store for us. And you definitely need to tell me what you just did now."
